More rhetoric with little substance. All this airy fairy crap about how Grundy is better with nothing, nothing to back it up. Why is it so hard, so frustrating for you guys to just accept that while Grundy may be good, Kreuzer was better at the same point in their careers?
Unfortunately you got nothing to back up your claims apart from stats suggesting that Kreuzer got a few more touches with what looks like a fair amount more game time. You have used the words Kreuzer was a lot better second year ruckman (oh and from what I have been able to tell you were the first to bring it up) and I've yet to see it. You haven't show it from stats because a guy like Kreuzer who according to you pretty much solo rucked in 2009 can't be easily compared to someone who spends about 60% of game time in the ruck and i think it is pointless to continue this discussion. Its in the wrong thread. Sorry if i have helped to derail this thread. This is my last post on this.

20 year old ruck man destroyed by best ruck pairing in the game - BREAKING NEWS.
It's like playing Mayes on Pendlebury or having Crowley tag him, or playing a good key defender on Menzel - it's hardly surprising these young players will struggle against the best
Guys, if you want to debate the specific topic of Grundy v Kreuzer, do so on the Polls board please.

This thread wasn't intended for that.

How will their careers pan out?
Menzel: Will be a gun, but will deal with injuries along the way which will set him back and limit him from becoming elite. Should develop into a midfielder after his forward line run.
Toumpas: Big call, but from what i have seen i actually see him petering out and being yet another draft failure by the dees.
Mayes: Will be a 200 gamer, and in my opinion has the highest scope out of the 3 smaller type players to become elite.
Grundy: Will be an All-Australian ruck within the next 5-6 years, however his body will force him into somewhat of a premature retirement in his late 20's due to playing a decade as the sole ruck.

How will their respective developments go?
Menzel: Will continue playing forward until a few of carlton's list cloggers retire and until he builds his tank. When this happens i see him being a dangerous midfield-forward who kicks goals and has 25 touches a game.
Toumpas: Should play a lot of footy in the next 2 years, but imo he will not live up to his draft selection.
Mayes: Will gradually build as Brisbane should with their bottoming out. And should eventually be an All-Australian imo. Potential to move back home down the track if Brisbane continue to suck.
Grundy: Will have a quiet year or two as his body adjusts to the rigours of being an AFL number one ruck. Will develop into a dominant big man, who wins clearances and tackles hard like Shane Mumford.

Who'll have the better win-loss record?
Menzel: 3
Toumpas: 2
Mayes: 4 (worst)
Grundy: 1 (Best)

I probably vote Menzel and Mayes equal first, both will be very good footballers.

Mayes is an absolute jet and is being severely undersold here, most likely due to the fact he plays for Brisbane. And majority of people don't watch Brisbane all too often unless they play their own team. Which is fair enough because Brisbane suck but doesn't change the fact how good Mayes is. Would easily have the better career TO DATE compared to the other 4, and it shouldn't even be questioned.

Menzel is the wild card, if he can move into the midfield it could easily be him but whether he can do that or have the same fate of his brother is yet to be seen. It's alot easier to play as a regular small forward than it is to play a regular role in the midfield.
