Well we're stuck in a somewhat tricky situation. Wade has said he'll sign an extension if Pat Riley makes the right moves, but why would other teams deal with us knowing that if no one does, there's a chance Wade will walk?

At the moment we have 11 contracted players with offers to both Moon and Anthony not counting. I think Anthony stays but Moon signs elsewhere. We still need to re-sign Magloire and I think we'll sign Patrick Beverly. That means Luther Head will more than likely be out of the door which I'm not too fussed about to be honest.

I think we definitely need make a trade some time soon. We need to move Quinn especially. We can offer the MLE for a player which will find us a decent bench player, what do people think about possibly Brandon Bass? I've also heard LaFrentz being touted as a possible target.

From all reports Dorrel has been a solid performer in the off-season workouts so far and Spo has said he's basically like a FA signing for us as he contributed almost nothing last year. If we can get some consistent minutes and numbers from him this year it'd make us so much better as a team.

So as it stands I'd think this is our current depth chart;

PG: Chalmers/Beverly/Quinn
SG: Wade/Cook
SF: Beasley/Wright/Diawara
PF: Haslem/Jones/Blount
C: O'Neal/Magliore/Anthony

I think we still need depth at the 1 and the 4, but particularly the 4 (Dozier is a 3 imo but will probably play in Europe or hopefully the D-League).

Quinn is what we call "cheap labor".. Heat will certainly keep him, as Quinn isn't much of a pusher for money. Quinn is happy in Miami anyway, so if other teams dangle money in his face I believe he'll stay loyal.

As for Brandon Bass = Definite Yes!

LaFrentz, Absolutely No!!! He hasn't played a decent game in YEARS, the only trade I'd do for him is probably including Mark Blount.

Since having an Injury riddled career, you can't blame him for anything really, his showed promise in the 06-07 and 07-08 seasons but half of that was with a shining Jason Kapono in his way.. He's still 23 now, has had enough experience in the NBA, already, to be a starting 3.. IMO by mid-season he'll start as SF if we haven't signed one off Free Agency already...

I don't necessarily think Quinn is 'cheap labour.' Especially when we need to re-sign players that are integral to our season's success. We're almost running on empty and Quinn's $1m+ contract is bloated. Granted not so much as Blount, but I'd still prefer Magloire than Quinn.

rumors circulating that the heat have contacted Allan Iverson and Ron Artest....

Been alot of uproar about the AI coming to miami for the MLE and i agree... he'll poison the locker room...

alot of love for the artest rumor though which i agree with... def specialist and a 16+ points per game really good SF... Is getting on but still ove this rumor... Move Beas back to the PF spot...:thumbsu:.. Now the rumor is a sign and trade from Rockets so we would have to give up something like Haslem, Blout and one of the many SF we have... hopefully Diawara and a pick... plus we would be looking at a PF backup on the cheap from them aswell to assist Beas... But then again there have been other rumors he is off to LA or CLE... so take it as you like...

Regarding Quinn's contract: He and blout are great peices this year.. It just all depends on if we want to go now or wait till 2010... both nice expiring contract that other teams would love... Quinn i think will be wasted as i see Beverley ahead of him now and Head can play PG aswell... but the contract is enticing for other teams looking to dump salary...

aaahhhh still a waiting game though...:(

On some other points i like Brendon Bass and think he can help... I love David Lee aswell though but may be after a bit much... loved ariza but we don't look like getting him... still i think Amare has pulled up along side Bosh as our No1... If not passed him... But that's all rumors and here say... which i'm afraid that's all we can go on until we here somthing from the heat organisation...

Cheers
Jacky
