Michael Clarke quits T20 Cricket

Have to give him props for this decision, even if it was push or be pushed.
He'll never play IPL and his form in T20Is has been deplorable.
Now if he just drops down to #5 in the Test side, he'll be alright in my books.

i think he played the series with a bad back. he had one great captains innings for nsw against vic early during the season.

ballsy move, being captain it might've been the only team he is capable of making if his current form continues.
good move though, he really does suck as a batsman in t20. bit of an "up yours" to CA though after they only just appointed him captain.
i really, really hope that cam white is the next t20 captain. but i see them using this as an opportunity to try and find an alternative next captain - so if he plays, i reckon haddin has got it sewn up, watson maybe an outside chance. if haddin doesn't play, paine will be vice captain i reckon .(love timmy, love the tigers, but i think wade is better)

Yeah he batted well against a good attack that day, but hurt the back in the process, so you wonder how much that effected him (shouldnt have played in brisbane, thats for sure).

This was overdue. Hopefully, his Test cricket batting will improve as a result. He and Ponting were extremely woeful this series.

This is the best news that Australian cricket has had all summer , because it allows Clarke to concentrate on getting some form back in time for the World Cup, it will give the 20/20 captaincy (it should by all rights go to Cameron White, as he is the Vice Captain) to a player that's more suited to the game and goes some way towards the rebuilding of Australian International Cricket.

What a completely rubbish generalised statement! So when Gilchrist was in his prime, you would have suggested he only play one form, not both, would you? Of course not, these things have to be considered on a case by case basis. Some of our players have the game for both T20 and tests, and some don't.
White deserves to be the T20 captain because he's our best T20 batsman and has proven credentials as an excellent leader. This elevation neither helps nor hinders his attempt to get in the test team, that's a completely separate issue and should be considered as such.
As for Clarke, he's made the right decision (if he made it rather than the selectors making it for him) because his place in the side couldn't be justified on batting, so he's done the right thing for selection by stopping us having to pick a bloke who's not in our best T20 batting lineup just because he's the captain.

Good numbers ,good player , good captain, comes out of a successful culture that he played a big role in building.Two years to late but its a start in rebuilding Australian cricket.
