Coach Michael Voss

Congrats to Michael on the appointment
Sounds like we conducted an exhaustive process which included Cook in the latter stages. This gives me a level of comfort that Voss is the right man to take us forward.
Also his experiences at Brisbane as coach and Port as assistant should hold him in good stead this time around. He will know what to expect and should not be overawed by it all.
He also very clearly wants to coach us and sees potential in the list.
Most importantly he should be supported by strong figures in Cook, Sayers and Diesel who create an environment conducive to him succeeding as senior coach.
Now time to lock in a couple of quality assistants to provide support.

I am stoked with this announcement. I liked Voss when the club sacked Bolton and am so glad we appointed a coach that has done it before.

I hope my optimism isn't misplaced but he's got the credentials and just as importantly he's been the strongest of leaders. That's something we've lacked for a while and desperately need.

Welcome Vossy! Crazy to think he’s got the job about 13 years after it was rumoured when Ratts took over. He’ll be better for the wait.

Whilst I was always hoping for the big fish coach throughout this process, I’ll back Voss in. He’s got that champion determination, a leader of men and must have some good tactical nous after his time in Brisbane and Port. I’ll back in Cook and Sayers’ judgement here and it sounds like the players will happy. He’ll be a fantastic role model for Walsh and Cripps (maybe Cerra).

If we can land Lappin as an assistant and maybe one or two others then we’re on our way with a really exciting list.

Voss took over Brisbane at the ridiculously young age of 33, 4 years after their dynasty ended.

How was Clarko going at Hawthorn 4 years after their dynasty ended?

His tenure at Brisbane is irrelevant.
Brisbane was always going to be a poison chalice. Aging list that then decided to top up, which resulted in upsetting some heart and soul players in the process and costing too much.

Here to it being the right choice.

Good luck Vossy! im a pies supporter and i know you'll do good things for the blue baggers. Bring them back to the promise land!
Remember Carlton fans.... He grew up supporting Carlton as a kid ( not much would have changed ) he'll want this to work out as much as any die-hard fan. your in good hands :)

By his own admission he interviewed poorly 2 years ago when they gave Teague the job.

Voss is a good leader and communicator. Very big on culture and relationships. He won't develop and update the game plan himself but will be able to clearly communicate it to the players. This is very similar to many head coaches across the league I'm told.

The key is knowing that it's not your strength, getting the right assistants in place and delegating.

As I mentioned last night, he isn't going to be able to get the full team of assistants and support staff that he wants until 2023 as some are contracted. But he's a big fan of Luke Power and will hopefully be able to get reasonable support for 2022.
