Well if he said "he's got the full backing of the board"... you'd know he's gone. He was quite stoic when he said Voss would absolutely stay even if we don't make finals.
As we know that can change pretty quickly if performances don't improve he also said the expectations are to make finals, if we can finish 9-10 wins anything is possible.

Good skills, to a large extent, goes hand in hand with belief in the game plan. Collingwood obviously have a few skillful players but the way they move the ball has much to do with the belief that teammates are doing the right thing by the game plan and they bust a gut to move knowing the system works.

You don't run in waves unless you have firm belief in it. Our system is stagnant, no movement therefore our disposals will never be clean. When you dispose of the ball more in hope that something will happen than with surety, your skills will be lacking.

Collingwood players were handballing without looking knowing the gamelan would mean there is someone there.

There were even a few moments yesterday where they would even kick to the direction of a Carlton player knowing full well their teammate would run to the same spot to take the mark over the top
This happened repeatedly yesterday. Look-away handballs over the back of their heads that went 20m and landed on the chest of a team mate running at full tilt.

When it happened the 1st time I thought it was a massive fluke. Then it happened again and again and again....

The definition of a system that has 100% player buy-in.

This makes absolute no sense.

How can you back in something that is just abysmal and broken?

Are you seriously sitting there clapping him and everything he says regardless of results?

It looks abysmal and broken because of the poor attitude too though... let's not pretend it's one thing...

There are a myriad of problems. For me, it starts with the severe lack of on field leadership. Our captain and vice captain couldn't lead a fly to a cow's arseh*le...

I've been saying the game plan is no good since round 1... but I do believe too that the players are making it look a lot worse... you can't tell me a Michael Voss game plan revolves around 12 players with zero tackles at half time... against our biggest rivals at that... come on.

These players (and I'm talking about our "top" players in particular) are entitled, they're safe (ie. they know they won't get dropped), they have their long term deals sorted... they don't give a rat's arse about the monogram on their jumper, they don't care about the club's history and they need to be put in their place. Sorry, but there's just no excuse for the amount of undisciplined mistakes they are making out there...

Voss needs to draw a line in the sand, whoever thinks they're just gonna defy their coach and sook it up out there every week should be dropped and traded.

Yeah but he's not going to comment on what could happen worst case scenario is he? If things fall completely apart then of course it could change. But right now, where we stand, he said the right thing imo.

They had players free screaming for the ball in fwd pocket but continually ignored them to give to there inside line of players going fwd to get a better shot on goal.. very well drilled ..

Great coach but you can see he's burnt out. He's a shadow of his former self and has been for 18 months now.

I expect that to be the reason he steps aside and there's no shame in that. He shouldn't have any regrets or second thoughts and we shouldn't give him a reason for those second thoughts.

We've been down this path before and it was a disaster. Now is the time show we've learned from our mistakes.

As a mentor or senior assistant...absolutely. As senior coach...no way.

I doubt today's news will have any impact on this discussion at all.

:drunk:

been a consecutive season member for over 25 years, I would still renew it if we sacked Voss and replaced him with Hardwick, but I probably wouldn't go to any games out of protest at how our club never learns from its mistakes.

It would be Pagan and Malthouse all over again, Hardwick's best coaching years is behind him and he is clearly burnt out.

Needs a year or two out of coaching in any capacity to recharge his batteries (like what Ross Lyon did after leaving Freo)

I notice when we kick to our forwards it's generally right in the pocket almost on the boundary line. This results in a much harder shot at goal.

The Pies were leading to a point about 30m out on about a 45deg angle (at most). This then becomes a 7/10 shot at goal.

Simple things like this are setting us up for failure every game.

I think the optics would be pretty dismal too.

Replacing one coach who is asking for the team to buy in and not take the easy way out with a coach who will ask for the same thing.....

Nobody likes a hypocrite.

No way Voss gets punted in 2023 whilst Sayers is there. The email this morning confirmed that, imo.

I reckon we could be in for a wild ride if Hardwick is available come Oct 2023 and our form continues to decline...

Never boring, is it?

Just ****ing painful...

That’s how the smart asses get their run on & are always in the game.
Belief, buy in & knowing your team mate is there & going just as hard as you. The execution wasn’t always 100% but it’s consistently near enough & it helps when your running straight at someone as well- hell of a lot easier to get by the opposition or to be tackled effectively.
