Re: Millewa Football League

Had a look on the leagues transfers and it's good to see that Nangiloc are picking up some new players. Are any of 2005 players heading back to the club?Did the league have something in place where those guys who went to another club, had an open clearence back to Nangiloc if they wanted to?

Werrimull tried to sign some Nangiloc players last year and the players in question were told by the leagues president that if Nangiloc was reinstated in 2007 that they would be automatically cleared back.

In saying that what if the player did not want to return?

What would be the outcome be as you would think nangy would want all the players they can get to field a competitive side so they dont end up where they were in 06'?

Re: Millewa Football League

I note Gol Gol Seem to be rejecting Clearances to SFL clubs, can't see they can do it really?

They must also realise that it works both ways, where do they think the majority of their players have come from over the past few years?

Word is Golly knocked back S Mcglynn and Ben Garraway but let Tim Vandy go through. No offence to Shaun and Ben but Vandy can play and he would be first you would want to keep.
How are numbers at trainings going. Spoke to a pie and he said they were getting 15, spoke to a hawk he said 4. Whats happening at hawkland?

Agree, a strange set up when they hold back two and let one go. God only knows what is happening out there. I know they are working on a few more players for this year but the numbers are not good at the moment.

Re: Millewa Football League

Seeing the site has been quiet for a while, I thought I would try to get some discussion going.
When and where are clubs playing their practise matches?
We are playing Paringa at Paringa on 31st march. I'm looking forward to getting a guage of our fitness levels and seeing how we gel as a team, with several new players to the club.
How are the grounds looking at the moment? Heard the Lake grounds are still in good nick.

Would not think that Paringa would provide much of a guide. You should be looking at better quality than the Riverland Independant to get any idea of where you are. You might get an idea of the fitness as well as how the boys enjoy a good bus trip but not much to go on as far as form goes

Re: Millewa Football League

I think Deposit is right Chalkie. I spoke to a guy from Paringa on saturday and he said they usually play Werrimull in practice matches and get flogged! Oh well still be good to have a run anyway.

As it is a bit quiet I will add that the grounds for the majority of the MFL teams look OK from what I have seen driving around. Lake Grounds pretty good, Gol Gol is good, Euston is as it normally is (pretty poor). Nangi looked OK (at best) a few weeks ago and have not seen Cardy.

Re: Millewa Football League

Is Nangiloc stuggling for numbers for 2007? Would be a shame if they couldn't crack it again. Perhaps Cardy as well.
Is McInerny still at Gol Gol? Who have Gol gol retained from there top players?

Re: Millewa Football League

Not too many from what I hear.

Ben Mansell and Clay Storer have put in clearences to return to the Dee's.
McInerney is staying at Gol Gol along with Tony Albett, Mat Penny, Tim Robinson ,Jason Bruhn ,Chris Sharman ,Sparrow, Ben Skowikiski? Mat Dean and have picked up a few good players new to the area. All the stories about them being short maybe someone foxing:eek:

Re: Millewa Football League

Heard from a couple of Pie players that Uggy is to busy working to coach them this year and will step aside this week. Hot mail is for Megsy to take the helm joint with an older player. Craig is still going to play. Boys were happy as he trains them pretty hard in town style.

Ben Mansell is a dud. Clay was always going to go back, they will need a lot of others as well.

Werrimull played Woomelang last Saturday which was a draw.
Spoke with Ugster and he said a lot of encouraging signs with new players and current group under the new leadership of joint coaches Rex & Meggsy. Had at least 5-10 regulars missing.

Next practice match is against Paringa week after easter.

Go pies....................:thumbsu:

Re: Millewa Football League

How did the boys go Chalkie? Did you play Paringa? if so who were the better players? What can you tell us about your team from what you saw?

Re: Millewa Football League

What are peolpes thoughts on the coming season? How about ladder at the end of the year? Gun players to watch? Let get this forum moving a bit stale at the minute lads!

Chalkie, How did big Weapon Hall go in your praccie? No doubt slayed them, i'd imagine a lazy 5/6 goals, would easily be in the top 5 favorites for the league medal at this stage.

Re: Millewa Football League

BAMBILL
CARDROSS
GOL GOL
WERRIMULL
NANGILOC
EUSTON
MERINGUR

If Bambill do not win the flag this year it is a waste as there list (14 new players) is as good as a GOL GOL list from the past three years.
Good onballers/forwards & back but the key is big men and they have an abundance!! Stand out players will come from this group with Morgan/Hall & the assisant from the heathcote league to dominate.
But also they have kept the list from last year which is very important in this comp.

Cardross has been busy with Ganey recruiting many to the lions colours. They have numbers and are hard to beat on there dung hole. If all clearances are given the green light they will be the dark horse for me.

Gol Gol will no doubt have a say in precidings as they still have a quality list contrary to the rumours and if they are around about come the end of the season they will be hard to beat come finals.

Werrimull have gained and lost players but with Leader/Meggsy and co in the forward line they can beat most sides on their day. Swooper sharman is back which will give the on ball division a boost after losing Menchy to Irymple but badly need a ruckman which could make all the difference to there chances.

Nangiloc will win some games as they have a quality coach and a very good ruckman. Hopefully they get the numbers back and win more than they lose for the good of the comp.

Euston under the guidance of Steven bowden will struggle by the look of the outs with some great bombers stalwarts heading back to Robinvale. Again hopefully they recruit to be competitive again.

Meringur might be looking at a long year with Harry Walder taking over the reins from Gary Issacs. Not very active on the recruiting front with alot of 06 recruits heading back to Nangiloc.

Hopefully it will not be one sided like the last few years and it evens it self up for the the longivity of the MFL.:thumbsu:

Re: Millewa Football League

I just read that Jayson Butcher and Simon Kelly will be joint interleague coaches for 2007.

A couple of questions..... What size squad is chosen initially......what have been the scores for the last 2 games........does it get much support from the players........who hosts it this year?

No it's not actually.... would be very surprised if my hamstrings and more importantly ability would allow me to.

Just read a few of your previous posts Rabbito, your a S**T stirrer have you got nothing better to do?

I don't know alot about the league and would like to learn more, is their something wrong with my questions?

Nar, just a sh*t stirrer. With nothing better to do.
After flogger came to your defence eariler in the piece and was most surpised to see that you jumper ship.

Re: Millewa Football League

I wouldn't say 'jumped ship'. After only six games and 3 hamstring strains last year followed by one during pre season i thought it might be good for a change of enviroment. Was actually looking forward to playing under flogger and breeza but that's the way things go i spose.

Re: Millewa Football League

Hey its great to see Nangiloc seem to be fielding a side, I thought they had folded? Love the pub there :)

Anyways, any of you folks interested in taking the cyber-field in a pretend team? :p

Regional Leagues Fantasy Footy League?

Seeking interest in players for a Regional Leagues fantasy footy comp.

This is a) not real footy and b) not pick-a-team-of-AFL-players footy. Its even lazier!

All you do is express interest, I'll do the rest via QOOTY, a crappy random aussie rules simulator I created years ago and have been trying to bring up to speed. FAQs here : http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75728

I'll try to collate a league of teams that are representative of the more popular local leagues here, so I need raised hands from the posters. I won't make up any names, I won't allow any sudden new arrivals.

So either post here or PM me if you want your Bigfooty alter-ego registered for a team.

Hopefully we can turn some rivalries into some even more potent partnerships!

I'll probably aim for starting the season, say, end of next week. I MAY have to be an inflexible prick with okaying a team and treating latecomers.

For this season, hopefully the inaugural season of an ongoing league, all we need are 20 players per team. There is already a Fantasy league, more closely based on the AFL clubs, at Bigfooty, here : http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30 - its into its 7th season and has developed a bit of history! There is also another league at another footy forum site, this year with only 3 teams but had been as strong as 5 clubs in its 3 year tenure.

So get in touch if you're interested. Remember you don't have to do anything apart from dob your Bigfooty nickname in for a spot. Please tell me which club/league of regional footy you would prefer to be aligned with (please state both).

We'll see how we go. If it doesn't happen, ah well, if it happens later than I hope ... I'll still give it a burl.

Onward lads! ...
