Re: Millewa Football League

I guess the golly player in question is Vandy. Heard it was $150 but still a good dollar. Does this mean Hally and and Megs are twice as good being on $300 a game?
Without juniors it is very hard to get players who still have the body not just the skill to join our leauge. Surely playing against better players can only make us better. Good luck to Bambill$ Golly and Cardross. I am sure there are played players at every club.

Thanks for painting a pretty picture of Gol Gol that players only play for the love of the club & atmosphere etc etc.

What a load of s...!!

You obviously play for them or involved is some form of manner??

I accept some of your explaination is true like location/atmosphere/family but do not tell me that Golly do not pay money$$ an there are not players merley there for that fact!!

I will not mentioned names but no of 1 player no longer there that was on $250 a game and there is personal currently still playing that would be well paid as they are of SFL quality!

It is easy to say this as you have 3 flags in the bag and of course people like success so the obvious move is to join that culture. Being in town is a huge pull for that travel factor is taken out of the equation for training and game day.

Werrimull paid stuff all in 2003 and lost a lot of players to big money and other leagues the following year which typifies its stance on not paying huge money back then. They are also a family club with great atmosphere and terrific group of guys but this is not the only ingredient for success. Player shortage/lack of funds & commitee help would be a few of the problems causing most concerns to the other clubs.

What you need to do is take the blinkers off and look at what is currently happening to the rest of the league because of your pure domination over the last 3-4 years. The fact you have the perfect club in your eyes does not mean that there is not a $$ problem within the league. Its got to the stage that clubs are desperate for numbers to be competitve that they are paying any $$ to good/average & poor players.

Bambill$$ has just joined the club and it shows what kind of recruiting is needed to become a successful unit to compete with the big boys!!

I spoke to a Werrimull member and he said Bambills average height is 6ft 1 and they are fit and skilfull which is the perfect ingredient in this comp as most other clubs would be the opposite in some areas.

Why would someone be offended if people say they are paid big bucks? Personally I don't think you should say what people are being paid as it is private and only a select few from each club would truly be aware anyway. If Hally and Meggsy are on that much good luck to them as they are both guns that would warrant a good sum in the SFL.

I assume Hally is David Hall. Who is Meggsy?

Re: Millewa Football League

I would have thought that the Bambill/Werrimull game was to be a cracker looking at the form leading into the round and what you read on here. I suppose that was another boring game was it Deposit?

Re: Millewa Football League

I think Werrimull may just get over the line over the Hawks. They weren't that far off beating them last year and I think out of the two, Werrimull have picked up better players... Despite last weeks result.

I'm yet to see Werrimull play but Golly are not as good as first thought IMO and on paper I'd go with the pies. That being said they play on grass not paper and Golly do know how to win so not confident.
The rest pretty obvious really, maybe we should try tipping margins to create some interest.

Werrimull - 15 points
Bambill - 160 points
Cardross - 80 points

Was a reasonable game apparently and heard that Werrimull could & should have beaten Golly on the weekend but turned the ball over way to much and could not get the forward line functioning to kick enough goals. Apparently a few players down on form and a couple injuries which didn't help the pies cause.

Well the game of the season happens this weekend between Bambill$$ & Gol Gol which probably will break the sequence of games won by the Hawks.

From good source Gol Gol will not get within 10goals!!

Whats news from the other clubs? Nangi & Meringur flogged again cant be good for the league??

Apart from Golly winning pretty much on the money skeeterman point wise!!:thumbsu:

Give us your prediction for the big one this week.

Gollys biggest strength is the mental side of football.

Has it over most sides in the comp who strive to be as good as them but simply dont have the cattle or self belief.

Can Bambill dent the armour of the Hawks which has dominated for the last 44 games?

I think they will not only dent but more then likely smash the armour. You are right though they do seem to have strong self belief which is invaluable. Personally I would actually like to see Golly win as it would mean the comp is a bit closer in the top half then we thought.

My tip - Bambill by 55 points.

I hope they win too, look for the Gol Gol Bambill Rivalry to flare up as well. Should be a cracker of a game (as opposed to most others this year). Pitty i wont be able to see it.

Cardross v's Werrimull should be pretty good also. I would expect decent crowds to turn up as no SFL matches this weekend.
Has there been a rivalry in the past or are you saying that there will be now as they are both at the top? Bambill is a different team this year so most wouldn't know anything about a rivalry i reckon. Hopefully they smash each other though as it can only make things easier for the rest of the teams.

Re: Millewa Football League

The rivalry is still there, it has continued from the 80's when they played each other in 5 conecutive grand finals '83-'87 with Golly(Alcheringa) winning the first two but losing the next 3. Bambill winning a flag against them in 2000 but losing in '91,'92,'04. That's 9 Grand finals against each other in 24 seasons. Bambill with the honours on 4 occasions. Could 2007 be the year that they square the ledger?

Hope the game is a cracker as Bambill/Golly games always have a little bit of extra feeling to them. Maybe a big crowd to turn up too?

Re: Millewa Football League

The rivalry is very much still there and strong. Even the new players will know about it and if they don't they will soon pick up on the feeling around the game.

Being a Golly Home game the boys around the fire/bar will make sure the Bambill players know about it.

Those GF's in the 80's were some of the best games played (from all reports and from video footage I have seen). There were quiet a number of incidents in the games that have made for some bad blood over the years.

Pies will be too strong for Cardy.

Re: Millewa Football League

Here is a list of the blokes (or birds) representing your forum in the Bigfooty Rregional Leagues Fantasy Football League (BRLFFFL)
The four teams competing are the the Central Sharks, Donkey Floggers, the North-Eastern Wolves and the Western Wallabies.

These folks are representing you lot at the liest level, and you all should be proud of their efforts. Many big leagues (Ballarat, West Gippsland La Trobe, Eastern FL, THE WHOLE OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA!) aren't represented at all, so these guys are making a hefty imprint on the virtual footballing community!! Maybe a quick visit to their match threads to talk 'em up and can their opponents wouldn't be out of order?

(If you are on this list, and there is a x in front of your name, this means you are yet to even read the private message I sent about picking a guernsey number. It means you probably aren't aware of the season in progress, and your club needs you!)
