I know Grant will sprout the usual waffle that we are developing 22 leaders on the field and those more experienced players not in the leadership group are still leaders but....how could Milne be listed in this group.

Other then providing comedic humour around the club, what does he actually bring in terms of leadership. He really doesn't lead by example in terms of going hard for the ball. I couldn't imagine him being the most inspirational speaker as i'm yet to hear him string an audible sentence together. And to have someone like Max Hudgton who gives everything for the club removed from the group and be replaced by Milne... yet another interesting decision coming out of Moorabbin.

This is the worst decision since Prendagast, actually, Ian's much worse

Wow.
Worst possible person to have in a leadership group. The only thing I can think of is maybe Thomas is trying to make Milne 'grow' as a player.

Other than that a truely shocking decision.
Wrong.

Meet Ian Prendagast.

Maybe GT will place aaron fiora and mark mcgough in the leadership group too for season 2007. :D

Meet Ian Prendagast.
At least Prenda has a good work ethic. May not be a super talented player, but if you are looking for leaders who show the way on the training track and who you know are going to try get the best out of what little football talent they may have, then the Prendas of this world are handy to have in your leadership group.

Of course if you want leaders who are better known for their extra-curricular activities then you go for someone like Milne.

If you saw the Saints train you probably would n't be surprised by this decision. Milney is one of those guys that never shuts up on the track and on the field, he is consistently encouraging and talking to his team mates. And as far as his record goes, he kicked 61.20 as a small forward in 2005 not forgeting his 11 straight in rd.22, which was the best anyone could manage for 2005.

I personally don't have a problem with this decision.

God i hope grant thomas wins a premiership to shut up all these sniffling morons who pay out on him and the Saints culture every time he tries to implement something new.

The guy has had some good original ideas in the last few years. So good infact that they have been taken up by other coaches.

That is more than can be said for the likes of some other coaches especially the coaches of teams like Carlton and Collingwood.

Pagan and Mick look like very tired old men from a by-gone era.

Puzzling decision.

I am no St Kilda troll ( I have no right, they beat us for fun) but this is more than a little curious. And let's forget the off field stuff for the moment.

The bloke is a non-entity in finals footy. Absolute waste of space. In every 'hot' game I have seen him play, he has been officially sh1thouse. That has to be disapointing. He can't string two words together and is often irresponsible on the footy field. Undisciplined and unreliable IMO.

Meh. It's their footy club.

Good luck to them.

It looks laughable. However the proof is in the pudd. Pagan kept a lid on some real knobs at North (at least for a while), and Mick has reformed Brodie Holland into something approaching an adult human (OK a juvenile human, but its still a massive improvement), so criticism of them is ignorant in the extreme. Likewise we need to see how GT's decision pans out before we pan him.

If GT can keep the little creeps mind on footy and off nooky it'll be a credit to the coach and player.

My own feeling is that GT's rotating captaincy and shuffling leadership is a way of decreasing political power among his players-far better coaches than him have been forced out by the players (Hafey and Joyce spring to mind, multiple premiership winning coaches both).

If this rotating thing is such a good idea why doesn't he rotate the coaches position? Captains take time to mature into their role, and it takes years at the top to develop the flawless leadership skills that Kernahan showed, or cobble together the crafty footy knowledge of Tony Shaw. Both those blokes became forces at their clubs after their playing days were over, and I reckon GT doesn't want that happening.

I could be wrong. Fellas may become instant leaders after one season as a captain, or show great captaincy in a crunch game (say a Prelim) after scarcely a season in the role. The other players may be able to keep their respect for the position of captain even though its passed around like a bong at a squat, or a [insert obvious joke about Milne and Montagna here].

We'll see how they go. On the surface it looks dumb, but if it helps the kid good on them both.

I also think he shot JFK, had a hand in 9/11 and also masterminded the death of John Denver.

I also believe he was driving Princess Diana's limo before it crashed.

I've also heard strong rumours that Osama Bin Laden is hiding out in the spare room at his family home.

A coach? Not sure. An evil mastermind? Yes.
