Mininera and District FL - Pre Season 2009

Re: Mininera and District FL Part 2

Pretty bloody quiet on here considering we're into the real stuff now!!
Any thoughts on results from round 1?
Penshurst and Glen-Dunkeld look the goods early on.
A supposedly fit Lismore-Derri were ran off their feet by Caramut.
Do Taty have many to come back into their side?

C'mon where are you all?

Glen looked very good... moved the ball at great speed and their goal kicking was probably the most impressive part... hardly missed... they made taty look pretty ordinary but taty are definetly underdone and will get beta... be interesting to see who comes back for them as the season goes but doogs back next round will be a very big inclusion... where will the rams coach play when he comes in? bloods? will be another handy inclusion i would of thought...

some worrying signs for the demons early boys... lost a pracy to woorndo then done easily enough by the muts... and with rovers having a win the 5 will be very hard to break this yr... dees could go as low as 7th...

was a little surprised moyston didnt do it a little easier, lets face it, bolac are going to be holding up the ladder you would assume at this stage... any thoughts from anyone else?

think its guna be a great yr and the top 7-8 teams shuld be pretty competitive with each other, although glen and penshurst seem the front runners...

"doogs back next round will be a very big inclusion..." You have got to be kidding me don't you?? Lets see how this great passenger goes now he gets the number 1 defender every week. Lets hope he can handle the pressure and not have a brain explosion like on GF Day. If i was Tatyoon i would be sending out an SOS for some decent forwards because thats where they got shut down friday night. Doogs big inclusion... I think not!!

well i dont uderstand why you think doogs was a passenger last year seen as most the year he did play as the only key foward and im pretty sure he kicked more goals than most fowards in the league... but ur rite taty definetly are in trouble for fowards at the moment, just like most teams i guess...

I might be wrong but i just don't think he is a senior footballer. He has always played 2's except for the last year and now he is a big inclusion and being talked about as the difference. If you look back over the last 7 years that he could have been playing senior football and have a look at some of the forwards Tatyoon have had you wouldn't put him in the same breath as them. Maybe the standard has dropped a lot over those 7 years because it hasn't been that he has improved out of sight.

Seems like getting a good forward is like trying to find a good ruck man these days... Interesting times ahead...

I agree the Rams did look good the other night, but their preparation has been a lot better than Tatyoon's from what I saw the other night. The Hawks did look under-done as well as under-manned in key posts.

The Andy McDougall argument annoys me, because whether you think he is a senior football, now, then, yesteryear or never, fact is he kicked over 60 goals last season and was pivotal in the premiership win.
Of course the standard of country football everywhere has dropped over the past ten years, which may have helped the likes of Andy to a degree, but opportunity has also given him the chance to show his ability too.

Fair crack of the whip, especially when a bloke has runs on the board as recent as he has.

The Rams coach (Simon Hatherell) has predominantly played as a defender in the past, but I believe he may try himself at CHF to help the balance of the team.

I agree that the Bombers and Rams look to be ahead at this stage, but plenty of competitive teams look like making it a good season.

Totally agree on Doogs Bloods what else has he got to prove the runs are on the board as you say.Oh and by the the way Bloods a good report on the game(Taty)in your new site did'nt get there so it was good reading well done.

Oh dear me!! He has kicked 60 odd goals in 1 year of senior footy when the standard has dropped so bad in the Mininera league and now he is getting all this praise... Hmm... correct me if i am wrong but didn't he spend 5years kicking around in the early game until the standard dropped to a level he could play seniors at??
Come on boys, you can't be serious the way you talk him up! He has kicked only 60 goals for the year last year when he was the main Full Forward for a side that won the flag not that impressive i say!
How many did Frankie Matthews kick. Compare the 2 forwards, both played in Grandfinal teams....

you are an idiot zedi. for one you are contradicting yourself. Before you said how is he going to go getting the best defender and now your on about him being the number 1 forward last year. we arent comparing anyone. Frankie wuold nearly be the best fullforward in country footy. i watched a few games last year and doogs straightens taty up which was missed on fri night. Someone said that he kicked 100 goals in the 2s then had a year off and last year played seniors. Before that would of only been a youngster where taty had some great full forwards. So stop slaggin off blokes who are just havin a go. Why dont you go and show doogs your seniors premiership medallion

Straightens Taty up when he plays fullforward! Hmm.. thats interesting! Lets just see how he goes this year! i'll be looking at the results closely!!

And i would be more then happy to compare premiership medallions!!

Re: Mininera and District FL Part 2

I think everyone has shut up shop until the 23rd May when they can watch Rams and Penshurst.
I'm sure Bomber55 can't wait for it.

ah I'm waiting for that match. All this praise Glen-Dunkeld are getting after just one victory is a little bit over the top. Tatyoon were seriously underdone with a number of players out of the side. Tatyoon will come back to the field a lot this season.

For all their chest puffing, Glen-Dunkeld still won't get near Penshurst because of the difference in depth. Penshurst have some outstanding footballers in their side and in terms of ability they are way ahead of Glen-Dunkeld. But if you get a wet day with a strong wind then Penshurst might only win by 6-8 goals instead of 12-15 goals.

As for May 23rd I'm more looking forward for the Brad White v Grant Ewing match up- lets just hope the old hammy at training curse doesn't strike Mr White again???

Sorry you said Grand Final teams i just can,t remember who wore the medal?Oh that's right it was the big fella i think he's name is Doogie:D:thumbsu:

Re: Mininera and District FL Part 2

At what stage was anything mentioned about Frankie and his Premiership medal? We were comparing him and doogs as forwards!

HAHA if thats the best you have got though, your kidding yourself!

I think you are forgetting one vital thing please quote me if i am wrong dos'nt Matthews play nearly 12 mths of the year which makes him a professional footballer?so he has got every right to be a bit better than Doogs:confused:

Ur a TOOL, 7 years ago Doogs was only just a kid out of under 16s n Taty over that time have had some great forwards, so there was no spot 4 him, but he still was kicking bags of goals in the 2s n he would of made it in any other 1s side in the comp! now he has got his chance n has got the score on the board, plus he takes his footy abit more serious these days. So Zedi how about u crawl back into ur hole:p

HAHAHA yeah lets hope he takes it as serious as he does eating pies!
Bit of pressure on him to perform now! Lets hope your super star forward is up to it hey Taty boys!! 7 years ago he would have been 18 with 2 years out of juniors fool! Glad it took him 6 years for the standard to drop to his level! I'll go back into my hole but will be keeping an eye on doogs lets hope he performs so you boys dont get egg on ya face

Re: Mininera and District FL Part 2

A permanent forward who is the primary goal kicker should kick 60 goals in this league. Considering there are always 2 terrible teams who you could kick 20 goals against. That's only 2.5 goals per game against the other sides. It should be easy to kick goals in the forward line for Tatyoon when they beat most sides by 10. He's a premiership player who won the goal kicking - good effort. Doesn't mean he's a star though.

This 'Doogs' argument is pissing me off big time, so much so that some stats need to be exposed so that his VALUE to the Hawks win last season can be seen!

First of all he missed seven (7) games last season and finished with 70 goals from the other 15 games (4.66 ave) he played.
He played his first game against the Rams in Rd 5 kicking 5 goals. He did not play in Rd 7 and missed Rds 14 & 15 with a hand injury.

As for kicking goals against two terrible teams, (Woor-Mort & WLB), he only played against them once each for 12 goals combined. (leaving his aver @ 4.46 for all others)

As for being the primary goal-kicker, well he did have Hitchcock playing alongside him for some games, so it was at least two-pronged, plus when the likes of Andy Tucker, Tim McDougall, Tony Campbell and later on Chris Milne are all kicking bags, plus their mid-fielders who all kick plenty, it was not as if the game plan revolved around him and he couldn't help but kick goals. Far from it. They shared that duty which goes with most good TEAMS.

Tatyoon did not dominate like the previous two seasons, losing 3 games and having three wins under ten points. In fact his effort of 5 goals from nine in the wet against Caramut in Rd 9 in a four point win was a major reason they stayed in contention for the double chance when INJURY was hitting them hardest. The next round they had some 22 players unavailable for both teams, so it was not plain sailing all year for the Hawks.

He kicked 16 goals during the finals, including 8 Prelim goals and 3 in the GF.

In summary 'Doogs' is not your stereo-typed player (agile, fit etc), not a quick leading forward and is no STAR (no one said that), but his efforts were pivotal in the Tatyoon premeirship win.

He is a strong mark, one out and his goal converting is very good.

What would you blokes who are doubting him be saying if he played those seven games he missed. Two against W-M & WLB, plus five others probably sees the big 'doogs' finish with over 100 goals in a Premiership season. Not too bad an out-put and no doubt would be loved by nine other clubs around the league.

Two final pieces, the bit about the standard dropping is pretty well-known around country footy, so if that helps 'doogs', you are in fact slagging off at every player running around. Get off your horse and respect players for what they do, no matter where they do it, and if it is with their home club, good on 'em........at least he is not running around other clubs looking for $$$$$ on the back of it!!!

Secondly barking from afar without knowing all the facts can make you look silly!

Cheers

'Junk Time Doogs' (Gets alot of his goals when the game is over from my viewing of him last year)... Is not running off to other clubs chasing coin cos no1 in their right mind would pay for his services! HAHAHA Say G'day to him for me when your in front of him tonight on your knee's!

Re: Mininera and District FL Part 2

Blokes play footy on a Saturday for there local teams, Train on a Tuesday/Thursday have a few beers with there mates and enjoy that. These blokes are not professional footballers and i am pretty sure most blokes play to be around there mates and they enjoying playing the game! They do not need to be talked up or slagged on a internet forum. by blokes who want to hide behind a alias name, that just rubbish.
How about you lay off Doogs, 70 goals from 15 games i would take that any year and i reckon a lot of other blokes would as well. I dont see how people can slag the bloke off when he plays the game as a recreation sport and highly doubt he would get a cent for playing being a local boy and on top of that puts a lot of time and effort into looking after the ground as well. I say give the personal attack a rest Zedi and let the bloke do what he enjoys be it 20 goals for the year or 100 at least he is out there having a crack.

Re: Mininera and District FL Part 2

Well said Bloods and Razzamataz!! Zedi Knight crawl back in ya hole and find something else to cry about, maybe Doogs has touched u up once or twice in ya time and ur a bit emotional, or u just got nothing better to do... Either way i think u have been proven wrong so pipe down and how bout talking some footy?!!!

Thats your opinion!

You obviously just don't rate him and thats your call.

And your personal hits tell us a lot about your small mind that is obviously only big enough to amuse yourself with veiled swipes.

For what it is worth I only know Doogs as a player from Taty, and I am only acknowledging his efforts on the value they were towards that Hawks flag.

They would have struggled to win if they were without him during the course of the season.

Finally I love this league, having played most of my time here, and now that I cover it for a local paper plus my website, I admire each and every player that runs around in the competition.

Not all are blessed with heaps of skill, but they are out there playing and having a go.

Units like you unfortunately take great pleasure in demeaning and slagging off at some of these players!

Each to their own I suppose, as you're the ones who have to live with who you are!

Re: Mininera and District FL Part 2

Ok who are gonna be the winners this round?
Can Taty bounce back? Can the Dees get one on the board?
Are Wicky lake or woorndoo going to be humiliated?
What do ppl think after round 1 and whats gonna happen round 2?

Penshurst will beat Hawk-Mac easily enough.
Caramut will win against Woor-Mort, but only after a tough battle.
If the Demons don't beat WLB, God help them!
The Rams and Pumas game will be an interesting one.........maybe the Rams narrowly.
Rovers have a great chance of beating Taty.......a lot will depend on whether the Hawks have any significant 'ins'.
