This maybe true, but from your list of clubs paying out the big bucks in the previous seasons it seems as though there is an odd one out.
Shall we go through them
TATY premiers 2006
Bolac premiers 2005
SMW premiers 2004/03
Lismore/Derri premiers ?????

Well you don’t have to have a business degree to work out that Lismore have spent the $$$ for what…. Runners up twice

Q. What’s the difference between an arsonist and lismore/derri??

A. An arsonist wouldn’t waste 22 matches :D

Go the pies!![/QUOTE]

Pretty sure Rover in 04 didn't spend a great deal on players. They were lucky that year as the majority of the 03 premiership players left and didn't really shell out much for new recruits. The recruits that came often brought a few other players also.

word is that rovers have some key players returning in bagley, a. robertson, a.cleeland...... could be improvers??

It will take more than those blokes to challange for the flag, and robertson may not play alot for them with his other footy commitments

Can ayone tell me if the MDFL have already engraved N.Kelly on the league medal this year? Played my first game back for a while on the weekend and had the pleasure of watching the umpires feed him free kick after free kick, even when he was sheep dogging in the back line. Rarely put his head over the footy all day.

hmmmm, alot of people dont like this Niel Bloke hey, But if he has won 2 league best and fairests, he cant go that bad.

People play different types of footy, and every team needs different types of players, A team full of in and under players wont win you football games, where also a team of players that just sit back wont.

You need an even mix, and some players are better at doing either one of these.

One best and Fairest yea maybe bit of a fluke or whatever you want to call it,

But two, he must go alright.

Does he use the footy well, does he backchat, does he abuse is peers, does he have a good presence on the field?

These things alone are main factors given when umps are making a decision,

Remember is not only the BEST but FAIREST!!

Mick Jennings?

Mick Jennings?

And there's the end of the 'not only best but FAIREST' argument lol

Mick has his own version of fair, which some have interpreted as a bit dirty at times! All in all a great bloke and a genuine leader on the football field in his day, I think he certainly deserves his three Lewis medals.

Kelly's not a bad player, I would never consider him the best player in the league, barely even top ten, and I don't think opponents would rate him as a potential match-winning player.
BUT, he certainly gets plenty of the footy though and he does it CONSISTENTLY.
The fact he's rarely on the bottom of packs probably helps him - He has less chance of dishing out some rough play to opposition and won't get get angry and abuse the umpires.
And you have to remember there's a lot of other circumstances that prevent some of the best players from winning B&F awards - injury, suspension and having talented teammates are obvious examples.
If it wasn't for injuries I think Jason James and John Vanderwaal would have been in the mix for Lewis medals over the past few years.

i have heard from a very close source that jesse robertson could be playing his last game for rovers this weeknd and looking for a move possibly to hopetoun????? can anyone from rovers confirm this?? ?? ?? ??

Here is a list of the blokes (or birds) representing your forum in the Bigfooty Rregional Leagues Fantasy Football League (BRLFFFL)
The four teams competing are the the Central Sharks, Donkey Floggers, the North-Eastern Wolves and the Western Wallabies.

These folks are representing you lot at the liest level, and you all should be proud of their efforts. Many big leagues (Ballarat, West Gippsland La Trobe, Eastern FL, THE WHOLE OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA!) aren't represented at all, so these guys are making a hefty imprint on the virtual footballing community!! Maybe a quick visit to their match threads to talk 'em up and can their opponents wouldn't be out of order?

(If you are on this list, and there is a x in front of your name, this means you are yet to even read the private message I sent about picking a guernsey number. It means you probably aren't aware of the season in progress, and your club needs you!)

still in talks with both clubs not sure what the decision will be.
Good footballer and a huge potential, has a big future ahead for the young fella.

With the retirement of many of the Bolac greats and that era seemingly over, are there any who now the success has gone are jumping ship?
