Apparently lateral pressure it stands up well against, hence F1 cars are built out of it.
Dosen't do so well under pressure, apparently.
Who Knew?!
C.E.O I imagine would say "well, you gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette right?"
Carbon fibre is very brittle too I think. So you wouldn't want to bump the craft against a shipwreck with sharp pointy bits I'd imagine.

What has always shocked me is that during these ocean rescue ‘projects’, we never hear of oceanic wildlife interfering with rescue attempts.

Surely all the noise, splashing, etc that is made during the searches would attract sharks, whales, etc and it would interfere with the rescue attempts, but you never hear of it.
I’m not sure they actually know much about what is lurking that deep down,

They aren't that dumb (animals)

If the banging is every 30 mins per the article it sounds very purposeful, someone in the sub knows that banging non stop helps no one but a purposeful pattern would be more likely to be picked up as somewhat of a distress signal?
Quite likely.
I would be bashing out S.O.S though, just to be sure.
But hey, I'm not stuck at the bottom of the ocean in a tin can some dorky know it all C.E.O signed off on.

Uk subs brag that from their base they can hear and track a freighter leaving ny harbour

two billionaires, a multi millionaire, the kid of one of the billionaires and someone they probably paid to give them "a tour"

The phrase "more money than sense" springs to mind with something like this.

If I was a billionaire I could probably think of a billion other things I would rather spend my money on.

The company that supplied the glass refused to certify it to the depth they are using it at.

Pffft youre just a shill for BigCrushdepth
More: Missing Titanic Sub Once Faced Massive Lawsuit Over Depths It Could Safely Travel To

<<At the meeting Lochridge discovered why he had been denied access to the viewport information from the Engineering department—the viewport at the forward of the submersible was only built to a certified pressure of 1,300 meters, although OceanGate intended to take passengers down to depths of 4,000 meters. Lochridge learned that the viewport manufacturer would only certify to a depth of 1,300 meters due to experimental design of the viewport supplied by OceanGate, which was out of the Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy (“PVHO”) standards. OceanGate refused to pay for the manufacturer to build a viewport that would meet the required depth of 4,000 meters.>>>

What a disgrace.

I'm almost sad about the fact they've heard banging... because it means it didn't implode and they didn't die instantly. Instead they're slowly asphyxiating, which is a worse way to die ugh.
