Why are you guys so bitter about the whole situation? We have given you half our bloody team and we were the one's that got ripped, and you guys are unhappy? Baffling...
As I've said ....after the belting Adelaide has taken off and on the field this year .....you are severely underestimating the mood within the Crows ....severely

The issue with Young, is that he has a history of lying. Even as late as a couple months ago there was no way Mitch was leaving, or so he said.

Hes gone out and said he has few mates within the club, now its only social media but I'd suggest that's not quite correct either.

The bit about the coaches is interesting though, I mean I wonder if its us who have lost faith in Mitch, or wanted to change his role...... and hes had a dummy spit.
Some people are fairly hard about the decisions they make. I don't know anything about McGovern other than what's been written in the press, but he's not going about this softly.

Could just be a series of things that really got his back up, and the injury management was the straw that broke the camel's back.

so now the story has changed

its not about Gov has lost confidence in the footy club it’s more about the post code where he wants to live
In that case there’s plenty of other clubs in Melbourne.

Ok Kelly .....now, who else ?

The two clubs will have 5 picks between them .......I can assure you, maybe 1-2 might be highly rated ....the rest will be 3rd round pick value
Liam Ryan at 26 just behind Kelly in 2017. Himmelberg (GWS) at Pick 16 two years back. There's plenty of cases of picks in the top 30 over the past 5 years.

Himmelberg was not a mature player ....he was an academy player

Ok so I'm correct as posted ....2 players in 2nd round ....who else last year ??

Trust me I'm not but that is a separate issue, you can't go to a trade table and say we've been belted this year therefore we deserve more for our players that want to leave... I get the frustration but as I said separate issues..

I get that, and I still don't understand why clubs are so infatuated with the top end talent in this draft when you've got a veritable glut of genuine AFL talent all through it. Picks right up until pick 40-45 are going to be good ones.

My position the whole way through has been to try to get some picks between 20 and 30 after trades to ensure that we're around to grab some of the pacy forward/midfielders in there, but given our desire to pick up Shiel/McGovern/Setterfield, it's going to be a struggle. Be interested to see how things turn out in the end.
I think depth might be OK for some teams, but we have some of that already, so if there's a chance to get what we think could be a grade A superstar (and one from Adelaide), now is the year we have to do it since we have the extra pick from Melbourne, as well as what is coming in for McGovern. We're a team that hasn't drafted in the top 10 for over a decade, so it's a chance to go that route. Same as when we had the opportunity to grab Brad Crouch, if you have a chance to grab top talent then go for it, especially if you haven't in awhile. We generally don't attract that talent through trade, so the draft is going to be our primary method.

The fact Young is the player manager involved will make it harder for Carlton to get the deal done

Crows owe him no favours whatsoever

Unfortunately many at Carlton still see themselves as one of the 4 big Melbourne Clubs .....unfortunately that status disappeared 20 years ago, and now they're on a rung with Geelong .....but you could argue Geelong too has gone past them

Yes they've weilded some power the last 2-3 drafts ..........but not this year
We're far from the Collingwoods and Richmonds of the AFL, but still had over 50,000 members in 2018 despite our season.

With Liddle on board and our win tally likely to start climbing, it won't be long until we're back up there.

Players opting out mid contract, the clubs have had enough .....a club WILL draw a line in the sand ....if the Crows soft this deal, the already angry supporters will revolt ....the club is aware of the supporter sentiment

Sometimes external factors do influence a clubs stance at the Trade table

Mitch McGovern’s manager Colin Young has officially announced his client would like to become a Blue in 2019.

While no secret that Carlton was the frontrunner, Young confirmed the news today.

“He had a medical with the Carlton Football Club yesterday and it went fairly well and I know they had a meeting this morning and so Carlton’s his choice," Young told SEN's Whateley.

“I know that’s been around the media, but he needed to have the medical first and get everything else right and get the contracts right before we could tick things off.”

“We will be trying to work with Adelaide and Carlton to get a suitable trade done.”

McGovern requested a trade from the Crows with Young previous stating his faith in the club “waned” over the course of the year.

Young also rubbished claims that McGovern is leaving the Crows for monetary gain.

“I know that Kane Cornes and Malcolm Blight and a few blokes in Adelaide have said he’s absolutely leaving for money,” he said.

“If he was going to leave for money, he would’ve got an extra million dollars to go to Fremantle last year so that’s just rubbish.”

“He’s on a very good contract at the Crows, it’s extremely good, so it’s definitely not about the money.”

“His contract from Carlton will be much similar to the one he’s on at Adelaide, it’s more about the post code where he wants to live.”

“It’ll be somewhere between three and five years, it should be through after this morning’s meeting.”

Looks like Mitch forgot to let his manager know that he liked a social media post that insinuated that he was leaving because the Crows didn't pay him enough.

It was something along the lines of someone saying that they didn't blame Mitch for leaving if he was upset with the club because they misled him with his contract and made him accept less and Mitch liked the comment.

Any talk about him being happy with his current contract is pure BS otherwise why would have McGovern liked the post?

There are deals that don't get done and players who are happy to go back to their club and play out the year (read: Gibbs). This is not one of those situations. Seems far too much bad blood for Mitch to play for the Crows ever again.

I'm confident a deal will be done - hopefully early in the trade period so both clubs can move on - but if not... I see it closer to the McCarthy situation (ex-Giant forward) than Gibbs.
He might not play for the crows but he might have to sit out a year if he prefers I’d carlton can’t get it done

The 1990s Carlton sense of entitlement still exists even though Gold Coast are currently more of a success story

Its a seperate issue but it has implications to the plight of Mcgovern to Carlton.

Have you ever dealt with people in different moods before? Assuming you've ever dealt with people fullstop.

If the Blues want Shiel and McGovern and we really want pick 1, we can surely force their hand with GWS. Obviously you'd prefer to keep number 1, but if I was a Carlton supporter, I'd be happy with Shiel and McGovern for pick 1.

I was of the opinion that Carlton's 2 second rounders would be ok for McGovern originally, but think now that they're after Shiel, pick 1 comes in to play and we should try and get that instead of GWS.

Carlton trade pick 1 and 25 for Shiel and McGovern
Adelaide trade McGovern, pick 8 and pick 16 for pick 1 and pick 25
GWS trade Shiel for pick 8 and pick 16

Adelaide go to the draft with pick 1, 20, 25, 38, 70

We get our choice of 1 of Lukosius, Rankine, Rozee or Hately. Keep pick 8 and there is a chance the first of those 3 are already gone.

We have a fair chance of getting Valente, Sparrow, McLennan etc. in the 20's.

If they want him bad enough we get pick one.

He may not be worth that. I dont think he is. But if he wants to go with two years left and they want to up his salary then they should pay the price we set.

The alternative is set up a deal to then ontrade to get pick two or three from GC.

The net result of Gov leaving has to be Rankine or Luko.

So Mitch has had a medical at Carlton. He's pretty confident he's going there. Please, please AFC don't crumble like you have in the past.
