Having Andrew Demetriou and Adrian Anderson on the selection panel is ridiculous. Just makes it look like an old boys club.

And having Nick Maxwell in the team is a bit of a shocker. It makes me wonder what motives are really in play.

I'm not surprised. Don't know why we give a crap about these awards, when surely even the players know they're a farce.

If you think Clarke should have made it in over Sandi you are dreaming. Freo might not have had many good players this year but Sandi wasn;t one of them. Best Ruck in the league

With extra sides coming in from QLD and NSW I think it's time to give them an AA selectr each. Works out to around 1 for each two teams.

Haven't seen enough of Clark to comment, but Sandilands deserves a spot.

Brown should have been FF, and Fevola in the pocket.

Pathetic.

I'm certainly not a massive fan of Fev's but to be fair he did kick the most number of goals in the competition this season.

Also, Brown plays CHF not full forward. Fev was clearly the best Full Forward in the comp this seson IMO.

Yeah i thought it was strange only 1 ruckman made it.
It's a sign of modern Footy. Most clubs now only go in with one specialist ruckman.

Adam Goodes could be the 2nd ruckman in the AA side. He did win a Brownlow playing in the ruck.

I agree with Sandilands as no.1 ruck - it came down to a choice between Mitch and Goodes on the bench - if ruck ability was prime consideration give it to Mitch...if ability around the ground was the main factor give it to the dual Browlow man who has still only got 3 AA's compared to 6 for Pavlich in several positions including the bench and one as full back over triple premiership full back Mal Michael... which I regard as astounding and resulted in Michael never receiving a recognition he richly deserved.

The whims and favoured players of the selectors will always weigh on the outcome regarding this make believe squad.

Clark in his first year of prominence was just too easy to overlook. His ruck work in the first half of the year was also not that flash and was another easy excuse. Sandilands was the best ruck this year no question so it was always a bench spot in question for Clark.

The Judd man love by some of the panelists was always going to get him the job.

I am glad they game Bolton a spot he deserved it. Maxwell and Goodwin didn't. Maxwell plays lose in defense and doesn't hurt teams going the other way. Teams know this and don't match him up. That does not make you an AA.

The Goodwin selection came down to them needing to get an Adelaide player in there otherwise the SAians woudl have gone mental. I watched most of the Adelaide games this year and had Goodwin in my DT so kept an eye on him and he did not deserve a spot. Vince was the guy who should have gotten it from Adelaide if they were serious about finding a spot for someone.

Swan should have been in the middle for Selwood. Selwood had some very good games but disappeared when matched up but again the man love of certain panelists expressed every time Geelong played you woudl have to think came into it. Swan was a midfielder and not a forward and should have been picked as such.

Pure Victorian bias in the selection of Davis over LeCras and Porps. Both had better years than Davis. Chappy was lucky as well missing games and playing more through the midfield than the forward line. Still he was more of a forward than Swan and did play very well this year.

One of the best defenses ever can't get a spot in the backline? At least one of Goddard or Gilbert should have been in that backline.

Now all you Queenslanders have a specific reality check- this is how we really rate on the AFL scale, and especially the Melbourne media scale.

A big fat zero.

As a Tasmanian we are used to being treated as crap and something to be scraped off the bottom of the Big D's shoes- why? Because we aren't in Melbourne- simple!

Reality for me was many years ago when I saw Darrell Baldock run out as Captain in an interstate game Tas v Victoria- Captain for Victoria that is.

I think you mean shafted on the VC. Which he was.

I am so sick of the man love the selectors have for Judd.
I'm willing to concede Riewoldt as captain and Brown as VC, but obviously as a one-eyed Lions supporter the only way I can see a team named and Brown not being the captain would be if Voss was also named.

Either way, he was shafted.

In 2006 there was 2 rucks (Cox and Lade)
In 2007 there was 2 rucks (Cox and Lade)
In 2008 there was 2 rucks (Cox and Sandilands)
In 2009 only 1 ruck ..... why this year? Whats changed?

Surely Mitch deserved a spot on the bench.
