The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed OF Randal Grichuk to a one year contract worth $2 million in guaranteed money, comprising a base salary of $1.5 million in 2024, with a $500,000 buyout on a mutual option for 2025. If both sides exercise the option, then Grichuk will earn $6 million in 2025.
Grichuk hit .267/.321/.459 with 16 homeruns in 471 plate appearances for the Rockies and Angels, translating to 100 wRC+ for the 32 year old.
Grichuk has an extreme split, whereupon he smacks left handed pitching around the park but is sub-replacement level against righties. This probably means that Grichuk will mostly be a platoon option for the Diamondbacks in 2024.
Grichuk takes the roster spot of RHP Drey Jameson, who was moved to the 60-day IL and will miss the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last September.
