Fast forward three days. What headlines will appear in the papers?

Port Adelaide overpower Lions
Article that will go on to explain that Port Adelaide's finals chances are very much alive, while the Lions face a very tough assignment against the Saints if they are to compete in September for the seventh consecutive year.

Bulldogs deestroy Melbourne
Five wins in a row sees the Bulldogs barking toward September, while the Dees' finals chances are almost gone.

What about me?
After Matthew Richardson's ten goal haul against the Hawks, how can you possibly declare the race for the Coleman Medal is a two horse race? Richo's big bag sees him right in contention with Gehrig and Hall to win this year's Coleman Medal.

Bring on the Eagles
Perhaps the hottest team in the AFL right now, the Adelaide Crows, after accounting for the Magpies on Saturday, want to do what no team has accomplished this season - defeat the Eagles at Subiaco.

Bad things come in three
Nick Riewoldt clutching at his right shoulder after breaking his collarbone at Subiaco on Friday night.

The Legend Continues
A stunned Darren Glass looks on as Nathan Ablett kicks his ninth goal.
Ablett went on to kick 12.4 to reignite Geelong's finals chances.

And then there was one
Wins to Carlton and Hawthorn see the Pies with the first two picks in the National draft. The stuff nightmares are made of.

Priority Picks off the agenda
Stunning victories in Round 21 by the bottom three teams have effectively taken priority picks off the AFL's agenda. No teams will now qualifying for them in 2005 which the AFL commission are sure to see as vindication of their policy. Carlton look likely to take the wooden spoon and the #1 pick in the draft as all three teams now face unlikely victories next week. But as the Pies showed us yet again, never say never in 2005.

The big winner for the weekend though was St Kilda. After easily accounting for the Dockers on Friday night, they have shown they can win and perform well out west. The Crows loss to Collingwood means that if they don't repeat the Saints feat out west, they could sacrifice second position to the rampaging Saints.

Essendon, despite another embarrassing loss on the weekend, were another big winner on the weekend. Rather than facing the prospect of having their first pick in the draft at #7 (despite finishing 13th), they now will have their first pick at pick #4.

Direct Dees Demolish Dogs
A fired up Melbourne side puts a hault to the Bulldogs winning streak and sets themselves up for another must win match against Essendon.

Thomas Praises Umpires
St. Kilda coach Grant Thomas praises the wonderful performances of the umpires as the Saints thrash the Dockers by 67 points. Thomas said the 21-4 penalty count in favour of his team did not play any factor in his teams emphatic win, in fact he actually believes that the Dockers were lucky not to be penalised more often. The AFL is deciding whether or not to ask Thomas to undergo a drug test after his about turn.

Do venue changes even happen anymore?
When was the last one?

Not sure if it was the last one, but back in '94 & '95, the Bulldogs used to change their home ground matches from the Western (Whitten) Oval to the MCG to gain more experience on the ground come finals time.

Chris Grants Career OVer
Christ Grants Career over after a terrible Knee injury sees him out for more than 12 months.

now before you respond I've been on this board saying that Chris Grant, Scott West and Robert Harvey are three of the gentlemen of Football, and I wouldn't want to see him out this way.

But I just thought you'd like some of your own medicine after your reiwoldt comment.

I actually wouldn't be surprised, mate. He will probably get injured again, but as for the severity of the injury - who knows? The chances of Grant copping another stinger this week against Melbourne are pretty high. He has to be one of the most unluckiest footballers of the past 30 months.

Comback Kings

40 points down at 3/4 time, the Kangaroos have again pulled off a remarkable comeback to beat the Swans by 1 point. Shannon Grant scored three goals in time on, with Rocca kicking the winner after the siren.

Courageous Collingwood Collide With Cumbersome Crows

Undermanned Collingwood fought out a tough match with Adelaide only to lose by 92 points in a game that showed the Crows weaknesses. Despite wrapping up second spot and continuing a club record winning streak of nine in a row, Adelaide have shown that they can't completely finish off teams. The pies were outscored in every quarter but only by 22 points in the last, signaling the Crows continuing run of notorious last quarter fade outs.

Following the toughest road trip in the game next week, and the loss of number one ruckman Ben Hudson, its obvious the Crows won't have any chance come finals time when the rampaging Saints will start hot favourites in the first Qualifying Final at AAMI Stadium.

Meanwhile the Hot Pies can look forward to a stellar 2006, probably swapping ladder positions with an Adelaide side that finds themselves in the top four only because of luck.
