It will be bang or bust for Mora and he will play early. There is no point in another season of the softly, softly approach.

Yes. Surely the recovery time for his surgery is well documented and tests are in place to see how it is progressing. I think he needs to get some match-time into him. That can be either NAB or WAFL, and then I am keen for him to be used in the sub role. Aside from his injury, his height, power and speed gives us x-factor and versatility in that role.

I'm touching my wood hoping to see Morra run out onto subiaco at some point this season. All this talk of is he isn't he best 22 forget it .... All I know is you would have to be a heartless automaton to not blubber like a baby at the sight of this stallion of a man get his chance at a come back game. Come on! Get around him can't wait to chant his name like we do with the freo drone MOOORRRAAAAAA!!!!! MOOORRRAAAAAA!!! And imagine BT frothing over Morabito's name during his call.

If that's true then from what I've seen he's ready round 1!
I've seen him doing amazing stuff at my gym.
If anyone has seen one of those round balance boards with a rubber dome underneath like half a ball. I've seen him place the board upside down with the ball facing upwards, then, from a standing start a few meters away take two leaping steps and land on the 'ball' on his bad leg, coming to a dead stop, balance, bend and squat. Walk back, repeat, repeat, repeat...

He also is totally focused on his goal. I don't think I've seen a more determined guy than him.
Wow that's awesome. It sounds like he's got a lot of confidence in that knee if this is what he's doing and confidence in the knee is all he needs cause he's been playing footy since he was a little tacker and all he needs to do now is get back to what he does best and that's play footy. Don't forget he was a 1st round number 4 pick. It's like having a brand new player coming into the side who we know is going to be good. I remember Silvagne saying that he thinks Morrabito could be a superstar of the competition. Fingers crossed but I'm feeling pretty optimistic this time about Morra. He's got what it takes and that's mental toughness and determination and he could be the icing on the cake for our team.

I'm not sure which camp I am in.

I do hope he gets to play, but then again, he missed quite a lot of footy. Even Pav and Sandi appeared rusty after missing 1/2 year.

it is his do or die year, but then again, we are not Melbourne, and this year we'll want to go out and win every match. Doubt Ross will give him games just for him to prove himself. He'll need to show that he is better than the current 22 and force his way in.

But it is the start of the season so that levels the playing field a bit. No question he would need to prove himself, but any player who is not pretty much a lock best 18 needs to that. It is ultra-competitive for spots. Having said that, I think Sheridan was given games without showing that he was necessarily best available. Seemed to me there was a confidence that he could step it up on the big stage.

This deserves wayyy more than my 'like' can offer, so :rainbow: and :hearts: and yep, I think that should do it.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

But yeah I had to comment, cos this is stupidly awesome and exciting and deserves more than a like.

... And might've given me a semi.

Strong homo.

Past is irrelevant. If he is the best 22 on the track preseason with skills and fitness RTB will play against collingwood. If Salim says he's a standout at training then that's all I need to hear. He has been my buddy since I got to this board and followed his progress closely (unfortunately lucked out this year with a very late pick). Determination, effort and desire to train and get back on the park will give this kid the mental skills to become a very special player. Him and Fyfe will be dominating the AFL Midgield for the next 5 years.

Will play. Will monster.

Anyone who says he wouldn't be best 22 if available is kidding themselves.
He's an absolute monster athlete and proved in his debut year how skillful and powerful he is, imagine him
now with his added bulk and more development?
I'm totally torn between wanting to see him play his first game of the year at Subi with the roar of the crowd
as he comes onto the ground for the first time, and wanting to see him don't-argue the s**t out of Harry O'Brien Round 1 as
he steamrolls past him to kick a sausage roll.

Are you seriously comparing our situation, team selection wise, to that of GC and Melbourne?

The debate is discussing Mora as having not shown enough.

There will be pressure on at GCS especially for midfield spots, so speculation about a shiny new player breaking into the side is not unreasonable to speculation about a player who has shown he can play at AFL level is not an unreasonable contrast with Mora, given he is demonstrating his fitness.

At Melbourne they have a pretty fair selection of tall forward options, and it could be reasonable to suggest they are over-weighted in their KPF portfolio. Fitting Dawes, Clark, Fitzpatrick, Howe, Gawn and Watts as other marking options will be a nice problem for them to have. But as a 1st year KPF Hogan should not be expected to produce anything better than Mora will in terms of games played if fit.

How much of a difference could there be between Morabito's fitness and the likes of someone like Lachie Neale, at the end of the preseason?

I don't think fitness per se will be the big issue. He will be fit, and I reckon Neale will be too because he seems very determined and professional. It will more be about match-fitness and touch.

He will need some time to feel confident about his footballing ability and his role. May even be a problem if there is indecisiveness about what his actual position is. If he was going to be slotted in as a forward (was a big topic on here in the past), for example, it may be uncomfortable for him. It is one of the reasons I think Sub may fit well. He could come in with a license to do what he already has shown he can do. Switching with Sylvia until his fitness is peaking could be a plan.

If Dustin Martin can play half a game and rest forward for the rest, so can Morabito.

Dustin Martin "Goes missing" after half time, rest forward.

Frustrating for Supercoacher's like myself. He is on the naughty list.

I wouldn't be picking Mora for Supercoach until he has played his 2nd game to make money. He won't be able to last a full season especially with the capped rotations now.

The people on DT Talk mentioned that price increases will now happen after 2 weeks, so you can no longer wait until after the player has played 2 weeks.(Not sure if this applies to Supercoach as well)

Yes Dustin Martin is on my naughty list as well, but has found his way into my team again with the hope he can develop some fitness over preseason.

Morabito was never a big scorer, but if you happy with a 60 average then he is worth looking at.
