I was at a western suburbs (Melbourne) aquatic & recreation centre & Doug Hawkins came in for a workout. He knew lots of people there & was like a king, saying hi to everybody who chatted to him.
After his workout, as he was walking out I thought I could've said hi, but noticed his tag on his tank top was sticking out.
I called out, "hey Doug. Your tag's showing", to which he turned around as he fixed his shirt & leaning in to me said "Thanks brother. People always telling me I've got tickets on meself", & with a big grin he walked away.

I saw current Melbourne player Tom McDonald before a Melbourne University exam early one morning at the Royal Exhibition Center a few years back.

He was pretty easy to spot in the crowd at a distance because he was taller than the average student. He was talking to some people. I didn't acknowledge him in any way because there's no way he would have been able to see me at the distance I was at, and I'd have looked like a boob gesturing to someone that far away. We both eventually went inside the Center and sat our exams, presumably for different subjects.

Too interesting for this thread, IMO. Please be more boring!

Was at a supermarket in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. Saw a tanned middle aged bloke in the dairy section. I was hung over, gave it no thought.

Went to get our milk at the same time. Looked up. It’s middle aged Tony Modra.

He gives me this look of “yes, it’s me”

Greatest day of my life.

Second to the time I was picking up some take away curry and the outdoor area could only let 1 person walk through at a time, so Mark Ricciuto waved me through.

Not sure if intended but this had the style of letters to the editor in Viz magazine

Toilet encounters eh?
Can't remember if i mentioned this one as this thread has been going over 2 years.
In the late 80s i walked into a small cafe toilet as veteran commentator Tim Lane stepped out. The stench was overwhelming. Picture the Seinfeld scene where Elaine Benis uses the aeroplane toilet.

I walked into a toilet at the WACA as Max Walker was heading out back when he was a cricket commentator for Ch9, the stench of aerogard was overwhelming.

More recently I walked past Brad Hill walking his dog, at first I thought it was Stephen but on closer inspection I realised it was Brad, they look kind of similar.

Racist; not all brothers look alike, you know.

I saw Ed Vickers-Willis on Flinders Street when the Australian Open was on a couple of years ago. Only reason I recognised him was he was wearing North Melbourne gym shorts and as they had recently changed their logo I assumed only players had them at that point. Got the website up and lo and behold it was him.

I saw Robbie Tarrant unloading groceries into his car in Moonee Ponds last week. He uses Sorbent 3-ply.
Interesting. So do I mostly unless there is a special offer for some other brand that is difficult to pass up.

I used to coach an U-11's cricket team several years ago. Our team used to play against a team that has Hird's kid in it, so I'd see him at the games (pre-meltdown). He never talked to the parents and kept to himself.

Once I was driving through Melbourne with some mates in this crappy little yellow car that we purchased from an Indian man for $1200.

We drove over a nice bridge which took us from the city over the Yarra.

I saw some men running on the opposite footpath. It was the Collingwood team.

The light went red and, with the team on the other side of the road, I decided to lean out of the passenger window, rest my body on the roof of the car and yell out “Collingwood are Sh*t”. I thought I was very witty!

Before I knew it, I felt a stinging sensation on the back of my head as I lowered my frame back through the window. Once back in a seated position, I gazed up and saw the man that had struck the back of my head with force.

It was Bucks. He was lagging, missed the green man to cross with the team, saw me being a tool and gave me a back hander.

He was frowning. I wonder if he still thinks of me. I wonder if he believed me for a little while.

but the pièce de résistance for me was....me and 2 mates went on Fairstar the f**ship....Fiji/Vanuatu...bla blah blah....ran into Clark Kent himself....Johnny Worsfold....we were canoeing...so naturally I said the only good Eagle...is a wet Eagle...so we proceeded to gang up on him and his wife in a water fight.....it was good fun actually...so not boring at all....sorry.
