If only to give you another thread for you to indulge in your obsessionFreo should be in the poll ..
Well my SANFL side is South Adelaide Panthers. Won 11 SANFL premierships from their establishment in 1876: 1877, 1885, 1892, 1893, 1895, 1896, 1898, 1899, 1935, 1938 and 1964.Jack Brickhouse, famed Chicago sportswriter was asked why the Chicago Cubs had such an abysmal record in winning World Series.
His answer… “any team can have a bad century”.
He could have been talking about St Kilda.
I mean I can understand your personal view for that reason and fair enough.I get why these clubs are named but the absence of Freo and GWS is staggering
Nah .... Dockers made a grand final in 2013. You lot didn't make finals in that season. That was a pinnacle of my happiness. Barely anything to do with West coast despite posting about this.If nullifying West Coast is the only thing you seek from your footy club then I'm glad you've reached the pinnacle of happiness.
So what you're saying is even your fondest memory of Fremantle involves failure... that checks out.Nah .... Dockers made a grand final in 2013. You lot didn't make finals in that season. That was a pinnacle of my happiness. Barely anything to do with West coast despite posting about this.
2013 dockers season was good. It mainly shut up eagles fans like you reminding 2006 was dockers best year because of eagles winning the flag.
In 2023 Carlton technically finished 3rd, but sure, you talk about beer.Surely Carlton's premiership and top 4 drought is the most embarrassing given all we hear every off-season is that 'next year is going to be different', with everyone getting seduced by the names of their top handful of players, only for them to inevitably fall in a hole at some stage of that following season and fail to get anywhere contending for a flag?
Do you have any evidence to support that claim?Haven't done anything aside from 95 when they were clearly cheating the salary cap.
And lookin' at your avatar pic. You are an Arsenal FC fan. LoLSo what you're saying is even your fondest memory of Fremantle involves failure... that checks out.
Nice deflectionAnd lookin' at your avatar pic. You are an Arsenal FC fan. LoL
I am a Manchester City fan.
Your 5-1 win over us means nothing. A small bad result. My sides trophy run from 2008 more than Makes up for it.
So when are eagles making finals again ?
Because it's about embarrassing droughts...What does the dockers have to do with this thread?
Freo were around when it was 16 teams for 16 seasons, 50% chance at making finals, and St Kilda's draught goes back to a period where there was a 53% chance of making top 8 in a 15 team comp. You're projecting the current structure as if that's the entire history. From 1972 to 1986, the VFL had 12 sides but only 5 finals spots.
The current system is 18 teams and 8 spots.
It's harder to win a grand final, let alone make one compared to 10 or 15 or 20 years ago
They have 16 premierships, so it's less embarrassing when compared to teams like St Kilda and Fremantle who have 1 between them in 158 seasons, and droughts exceeding 30 seasons.Surely Carlton's premiership and top 4 drought is the most embarrassing given all we hear every off-season is that 'next year is going to be different', with everyone getting seduced by the names of their top handful of players, only for them to inevitably fall in a hole at some stage of that following season and fail to get anywhere contending for a flag?
Yeah because west coast was embarrassing in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.Because it's about embarrassing draughts...
Well from 1925 to 1971 it was 12 Victorian sides for 4 finals spots. So one in 3 teams to make finals.Freo were around when it was 16 teams for 16 seasons, 50% chance at making finals, and St Kilda's draught goes back to a period where there was a 53% chance of making top 8 in a 15 team comp. You're projecting the current structure as if that's the entire history.
Billy, I think Geelong losing so many finals since Chris Scott has joined has been very embarrassing for Geelong.Tough one.
Also your hatred of Ken Hinkley is cringe worthy. You must me a closet Port fanThey have 16 premierships, so it's less embarrassing when compared to teams like St Kilda and Fremantle who have 1 between them in 158 seasons, and draughts exceeding 30 seasons.
Dimma will sort them out, will play finals sooner rather than later.GC for me, easily.
And the fact that no one seems to care makes it even worse.
Agree it’s beyond belief really a club like Essendon with the money and resources they have, have been so poor on field for so longEssendon drought is most embarrassing I think. Saints at least have played in grand finals and GC could blame afl for botching the set up - ie administrator embarrassing not players or supporters. Also to measure level of embarrassment/ shame it is usually felt by the supporter group so Essendon also has the largest there as they have many more supporters than Gold Coast.
The embarrassment comes from the constant off-season talking up by their supporters of how good they are, and how next season is going to be different, only for the inevitable egg-on-face moment in April, June or August the following season.
I don't recall many, or indeed any, St. Kilda or Fremantle supporters behaving similarly.
GWS was a team of star talent that had never really struggled in their careers and didn't have a good enough coach.Gold Coast by far of this lot. The legs up they have got!!
BTW where TF is GWS because their legups were even crazier so they’re my number one… and reaching a GF etc is not enough
Giants = embarrassment of riches
