All the forwards I mentioned are ahead of him, including Fevola.

He's coming off an AA year, the reigning Coleman medallist, kick 80+ in a spoon side. And Brown?
2007 brownlow and coleman medalist (Playing all 22 of course)
Tying with simon black in the brownlow.

I watch 10's football coverage alot, but they very rarely show WCE games, so I've never heard the team say that about Cox and Seaby.

Laycock - A gifted player with true star potential.
O'hailpin - Has the build and potential to play a bigger role this season.

I think the key word here is potential. They are saying that they should be good players in the future. They have the potential to be rated highly.

In my opinion I don't think Laycock is really rated at all. Whether it be highly or average.

With Laycock and Oh'Ailpin, both have been said to be able to hold down key posts this year and whilst both have the potential, they can not be expected to hold down the ruck and full back respectively. Thus, in saying that they are fully able, people are overrating them. With Cox and Seaby, I heard it mentioned in the finals a few times. For some reason or another, it stuck in my mind. Perhaps you're right and he's not overrated but those comments stuck and that's why I put Seaby in.

Being an Essendon fan, I hear plenty of fellow supporters rating Laycock very highly and the article in The Age was icing on the cake. So, from my point of view, Laycock is overrated.

Brown is a star any one who thinks he isnt must be an idiot and clueless about footy.

So Fevola could play centre half forward. Since when has Fevoli ever taken 16 marks in a game. To say Fevoloo is better than Brown is seriously sad.

Fevola's kicked 80+ goals in a wooden spoon side with piss poor delievery. He dominated 2006 as a fullforward and got an AA position as a result. What's Brown done again? All you've given me is "he's taken 16 marks in one game", I've given you an 80+ goal AA coleman year.

He's got the runs on the board, at least. So does Pavlich, Lloyd, Tredrea, Riewoldt and Hall - they've all done more than him.

Fev's highest mark tally is 11. Then again, what you do over a whole season is more important - when's Brown ever kicked above 40 goals a season, or been a coleman medalist?

Brown's best is arguably better than any other forward or player for that matter, but that means nothing if you cannot maintain it. Come back when he actually maintains his form and strings a season or two. Every other power forward as done it, now it's his turn.

He is a premiership forward... in a strong team. He is not kicked at continually because there is nobody else to kick too. ZAP

That he played in a premiership has no bearing to your argument (considering that what he's done in those GFs aren't anything spectacular). And you are quite wrong about having there been no one to kick it to ... does Lynch and Bradshaw ring a bell? In fact, your last sentence is confusing and contradicts itself.

Make some sense before discussing things you obviously have very little knowledge on.

22,13,46,36,3 supps;17,29

lol,

Chris Scott, Pykey, Begley, Bradshaw, Voss with Brennan and Sherman as Supps.

You need another number, I think you missed #16;)

I suppose people are actually overrating their potential.

BTW, Black for Brownlow alright.

I have a few bets on him at $67

$20 each way.

Go Blacky!!!

(he wears #20, and is not overrated:D )

Disagree. Brisbane have struggled to win, even in the premiership years, without Brown. Since he joined the club Brisbane have won 71% (83 from 117)) of games with him, and have won 42% (22 from 52) of games when he has been missing, and that includes the premiership years.

I don't put much stock in your stats Thrawn because Leigh will rest key players when the game is in the bag. Most people judge a player from watching them play, and anyone who has been watching the Lions, especially over the last two years, will attest to the monumental difference he makes to the quality of our team when he is present.

Good post, does Thrawn have a comeback?

you're kidding.....how is goodes over-rated? he won a brownlow playing in ruck on one leg, then wins another one as a running midfielder....he's a champion, if you're looking for over-rated players you could run through the lists at geelong (g ablett) and collingwood, or what about luke hodge?

I was reluctant to contribute because I've had this same conversation with the same people on previous occaisons. I don't know if they pm each other but it always seems to be the same small band of people criticising him.

I would have thought 13 Brownlow votes in 10 games would have put the issue to bed but obviously not. How do you convince people of his ability? If they can't see it for themselves, then it's always going to be hard to 'prove' it to them.
