"Cherry" as in cherry ripe. No one ever uses the word "ripe" on it's own. Coaches, commentators and players always tack "cherry" in front of it.

That's out of our control. That's something we can control.

But the most overused word in footy is: BAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
Everyone time someone is tackled: BAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
No prior opportunity ? Doesn't matter: BAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
No chance to get rid of it ? Who cares: BAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
Doesn't even have it, he's handballed it: BAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!

Just shut up all of you.....

From personal experiance, i'll say Essendon are the worst, followed very closely by collingwood and carlton, it might be weight of numbers but seriously, 2004 SF, every time a geelong player went near the ball, it was BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The u'd hear them going, "geez, wat do we need to do the get a free."

Most other clubs r not to bad.

Yeah they go mad. They think it's touch footy rules, or something.

The other funny herd animal thing that footy crowds do is that everyone claps madly every time the ball goes out of bounds in front of them. An opposition player might be camped under the most hospital pass you've ever seen and someone from their team runs in and punches the ball into the crowd, or tackles the guy over the boundary line and everyone goes mad.

this is a good one. & what is a "petrol ticket" anyhow?

A player's fitness/endurance levels, I'd say.

The most chronically overused phrases on Footy forums are....

'The game is soft now'
'The game was way better in (insert whatever era here)'
'Too much flooding'
'Not enough biff'

Blah blah......

Yeah i know how the term is used in footy parlance ("parlance" there's another one,) but I mean in the real world, what is a freakin "petrol ticket"? You ever got one? Ever borrowed one off a mate? Ever used the term in relation to either petrol or endurance???

"Exclusive"

Ch 9 the main offenders.

They claimed an "exclusive" on TFS with Franklin's new contract when the news was broken hours earlier on Fox Footy.

And Kosi's incident yesterday was first shown on ABC TV early afternoon, yet Ch 9 claim "exclusive pictures".

"Going forward" - Chris Connolly should have this striken from his vocabulary, as should all football and business people in general. Seems to be part of the fad business lingo atm and is over used. Currently the term most shiving me the gits. From now on we will all do everything "Going backwards" ! And no I dont mean just Freo :p .

Yep, & "moving forward". People in my game (business industry) at the moment are using it flat out. There is one particular bird in our insurance department who uses it in nearly EVERY sentence.
