Sin City Swamprats vs Mount Buller Demons at Underground Stadium (MOTR)

We were torn. We had unfinished business with the Rats from earlier in the season but we also had a date with defeat if we were to give ourselves the best possible chance in finals. What to do? The team approach won out in the end. We needed to lose this one and give the rats a false sense of hope coming into the finals as well as pad our stats to gain better favour from the SIM at the pointy end of the season. Things looked shakey up to half time as we all nervously endure the wrath of the coach’s spray imploring us to be more like the Gumbies. This seemed to do the trick and we allowed the Rats to run riot in the last half and grab a 15 point victory. Phew!

Thanks must go to Yakker for organising tonight and doing it so bloody well.

That’s been a recurring theme of Yak’s leadership over the past couple of seasons. Along with the LG, he’s made Buller a place that people want to be, and fostered a culture founded on insularity and smugness that I think we all appreciate. A win rate of 74% is pretty good validation for our culture under Yak.

I’m about to find out just how much work goes into being captain, as I take the helm for S28. Don’t expect too much to change leadership-wise, as I’ll lean heavily on Yak himself as well as our solid LG. Plus, who wants to tempt the fate of the SIM?

We welcome Adroyo to our club and will seek opportunities to bring in more rookies alongside him to keep things fresh and engaging. We farewell the legendary Footypie32 and will be all worse off for his absence.

I’m excited to lead the club as we push for our third flag, and look forward to being insular with you all again. If you need anything I’m just a PM away.
