As posted earlier, a lot of Collingwood players changed numbers throughout their careers in the early days.

It was also the custom at Collingwood (i'm not sure when it stopped) that all Collingwood captains wore the number 1. So all captains up until a certain point at Collingwood wore at least two numbers.

I believe Ray Shaw was the first Collingwood captain not to change to number one when given the captaincy. For a long time, the capt wore 1, Vice Capt wore 2 and the Deputy Vice Captain wore 3. The rest of the jumpers were given out in alphabetical order and that is why a player like Jack Regan had about 10 numbers in his time at Collingwood

Great effort, stmookeyj. You missed two for the Hawks. Xavier Ellis #32 into #8 (Danny Jacobs' old number). Ellis was presented with #32 at the guernsey presentation in February, but then Jacobs pulled the pin and asked that the club give his number to Ellis. Max Bailey #36 into #1 (after Everitt left the club).
