So you don't like the taste of own medicine.... what a shock.
Me?
Na I couldn’t give a toss either way
I just find it funny the mental gymnastics people use to be upset at something but go on to do the thing they claim to be upset about

It’s the players fault for being dumb campaigners when they know as afl players they cop scrutiny for this kind of shit and have signed contracts surrounding this kind of behaviour

It's their fault for doing nothing wrong?

That's a new one.

Hit the nail on the head. It's only cancel culture when someone is saying something they don't agree with.
Well you are correct, that is the whole point about the "woke".

The argument from the woke is - these are our new standards and if you don't agree with them you should be cancelled.

The argument from normal people is - those aren't our standards, thats some crazy shit that you people believe, our standards are still this, basic principles of morality, ethics, being a good person and helping your neighbour.

The argument is not - there are no standards, it's we have different standards and your woke standards go to far. So of course it's not ironic to cancel something for something that everyone agrees is not a standard we in a Western society hold ourselves to - dobbing on your fellow man rather than addressing the issue personally.

They bring something into the public that was private they deserve a public response.

Hopefully they learn their lesson to deal with things personally rather than publicly.

Too many people appeal to authority - government give me this handout, social media lynch this person for me, AFL punish these naughty boys. Such people deserve the true democratic force of the public responding to them.
So you're okay with mob rule towards a venue and it's entire staff, for the actions of one individual?

Sounds like middle ages s**t. Kill everyone for the actions of one.

Who is to say the owners of the venue even had any involvement in it? For all we know it was just a casual employee who went rogue.

But sure, keep acting like a pack of wolves after blood.

Personal freedom of expression, free speech and freedom in general without a crime being committed is being taken away piece by piece as thats what govts likes to do - control.

Next step is facial recognition to access the internet and monitoring your thoughts.

Have to challenge every form of authority - because if you don't future generations could live in dire situations.

Trivialising rape is a line I don’t think should be crossed personally but that’s just me

are we once again suggesting reenacting rape isn't worthy of criticism?
Criticism =/= Reporting. No one is saying the venue shouldn't have told the GWS players to pull their head in or leave if they had an issue with it. The issue is waiting till after the players had left and instead of addressing the issue personally, reporting the issue to the AFL knowing that the individuals concerned will have no natural justice, opportunity to respond or apologise.

Yeah and that's the thing, let's say it's true that the only one to complain was the person who saw it later on CCTV. Perhaps they are a victim of sexual assault.

We all love freedom. Freedom of expression, freedom of association, all that stuff is really good and important.

At the same time, how hard is it, seriously, to just.....

Don't be a dick.

Isn’t that why the AFL investigated the incident?

They didn’t just take the staff members word at face value
They would of reviewed the footage and interviewed the players as well

I just rewatched the footage of Fev carrying the dildo. I wasn't there but I'm horrified. Anyone got the AFL's number? Never too late to lodge a complaint right

100% 17 other clubs have had mad Mondays/ silly weds or whatever day they have it on and managed to avoid controversy and I’m sure they all had plenty of piss and probably pushed the boundaries on acceptable behaviour

I’ve been on my fair share of footy and cricket trips and had a great time

The GWS players pushed the boundaries and have been caught out, they are not the victims they just need to cop it sweet and accept the punishments

People are allowed to be idiots if they want, I mean who the hell do these people think they are and regulate satire and dumb jokes and being foolish - just be law abiding.

Once reported the result was inevitable - once it became public it hurts the AFL's image. If it wasn't public it wouldn't have. It's like accusing the young woman in Salem who spurned your advances to be a witch. Fate acompli. The mechanism moves from there.

Ask a survivor of rape or child abuse, if they think it's funny if someone simulated it in front of them?

As you said, the person who reported it could have been a victim of, or knows someone who was. It could have triggered a reaction.

None of us know anything about that person. Rather than give the benefit of the doubt, people prefer to be outraged.

Pretty sure CCTV not being used as intended here. Nothing illegal took place.

The whole thing was handled in a way to ensure the players each got a chance to respond and apologise. Why are we making things up?

It doesn't matter where they did it, it would still be innapropriate and worth critisizing. If they had done it in an actual private venue (i.e a player's house) it would still be innapropriate but we probably would never have heard about it.

So the players behaved in a manner that could of hurt the AFL’s image, and have all signed contracts with clauses surrounding that kind of behaviour

But the players shouldn’t face accountability for knowing acting in such a way?
