Even at the half way mark of the season, has to be well in the running for the NAB Rising Star Award?

Well you'd hope he'd be winning it at the moment. Earlier in the season it was all about dale thomas and heath shaw. But Thomas has fallen off the pace markedly and shaw obviously doesnt have the class and poise of a murphy.

Go murph, you deserve it!

The only reason the two collingwood boys would be in with a shot is because they're winning games at the moment. But Murph is shinning in a lackluster side, something VERY hard for an 18 year old first year player.

there's been a fair amount of luster, but we could certainly use some more.

anyway, Go Murph!

Anybody know what sort of odds you'd get for that at TAB Sportsbet?
well the odds of fev winning the coleman are a terrible bet ($2.75 - he is the second favourite behind hall who is at $2.5) and i dont think they offer odds for the rising star

Are you serious? Heath Shaw's skills are at least the equal of Murphy's, and as for poise, he's playing a key role in defense, and has shown time and time again that he is nothing but poised under extreme pressure.

I agree that Murphy will be right up there, and he does have advantages over Shaw, but class and poise are not what they are.

Cut a long story short. Yes they are and you are wrong.
Congratulations on he gammer and spelling though, decent job for a pie.

does anyone else see a tad of hypocracy in this post? :D :D

Does anyone else see this post as a tad hypocritical, woud be correct. Lets not split hairs though hey. Made the point, no need to defend trolling pies.

I'm not splitting hairs, and I am definitely not defending a troll, especially one who barracks or Collingwood. Just thought it was a little ridiculous to jump on someone else's back for having poor punctuation and grammar, especially with that sort of reply :D

Yeah i agree shaw has been good under pressure and does display much poise. The difference i was hinting at however is that shaw has much freedom and confidence largely due to the fact that colingwood is winning alot of matches right now. But put him in a team thats constantly under the pump such as carlton, and id predict you'd see him make a few more errors.

But its mainly just thoery in any case, shaw HAS been excellent this year

He's a pie mate. They cant spell. There was "A" spelling mistake in mine. Your reply had errors of its own. Am I pulling you up on your hypocracy ? I was complementing him on his grammer and spelling if you can read. The last thing we need is self-righteous, nit picking, hair splitting morons on this board gauging the appropriateness of responses to colingwood trolls.

Give it a rest.

Not disputing but is is'nt it just as possible for a player to shine in a bad team as it is difficult to shine in a top team. Perhaps there is less to lose, less pressure. I know I feel the heat more when in the presence of talent than not ?

I think there is pressure enough from the AFl as it is to warrant your comments though.

I have seen a great deal of Heath Shaw this year and his improvement in his over-all game is profound, but he has had two Pre-seasons now. This is evident in his body shape and fitness. Murphy has only had one Pre-season and spending a large amount of time in the Mid-field where someone of his age would normally get mauled. Murphys piose at this stage of his career is well beyond his years.
