Re: Murray Football League - Part 3

See Moama have been denying the Sunbury boys clearances out, both Lobbs, Sleight and McCabe all denied so far, poor Luke Allen must feel unwanted as he is the only one they have cleared. All clearances are now on all the leagues websites.

Someone told me that club were not allowed to hold back clearances this year , is it a money thing that allows them to ?

Did read what they were but can't remember, think the main reason is if the player owes the club something, whether that be a jumper, membership etc. Also if the player has signed a contract for that year they can be denied.
Just because they are a required player doesn't stick anymore.

Spot on hank, we have had situations in the past where new blokes could not be cleared to us because they still had previous club jumpers.

Re: Murray Football League - Part 3

How are clubs going for numbers / depth, it will be interesting again this year to see how many clubs are running short of players?? It seems to be a problem year after year. With some clubs suffering a large number of departures, we might see a bit of this.

Hey Big Hawk. I Heard a wisper...and it might be just that.... that we might be hearing some announcements on a few big recruits this week?? Any truth to that?? Also how are things shaping up for the night series??

News to me Centre Square???? Thought we were done and dusted? Wish I could say that we were getting a 6' 8 ruckman with AFL experience.......Sh*t, I just woke up!!!! The night series kicks off tomorrow night and not as well attended as in previous years. 6 teams in Division 1 and 10 in Division 2. Think there is a misconception that this series funds the footy club. It is a community based activity, encouraging groups within the community to get involved and then those groups receive some financial benefits for their efforts. Disappointing that many of the MFL clubs have bypassed the series this year, which is in its 22 year!!!! Understand that some clubs might want day games to acclimatise. Wish we could use this to advantage and play a couple of night games earlier in the season for premiership points!!

Heard from a reliable source that Cobram are offering massive money to some teenagers from the Goulburn Valley, almost 4 figures per game for some....absolutely ridiculous!! This sort of thing will ruin country footy!!!

Re: Murray Football League - Part 3

They'd be better off trying to keep their own local boys than paying out those ridiculous amounts of money if it is true. Have heard they are losing some of their better young kids?? Richard Cole's name was also linked to $1800 a game? I heard his manager was offering his services to quite a few clubs in surrounding leagues.

good luck to cobram if they have that money to spend they have obviously worked hard to raise the funds to spend. Money is a major part of country football and the sooner everyone stops sooking about clubs paying different players X amount of dollars the better.

Re: Murray Football League - Part 3

Rams v Rovers.
Very entertaining game played on a very wet oval.
Rams 5 goals up half way through the 3rd quarter, Rams player yellow carded, Rovers get back 3 goals in that 10min when Rams yellow carded player about to come on just before 3 quarter time and lights out, all over after 3 quarters. Rams 9.4 Rovers 7.0.
Shame lights went out with a good crowd in attendance, but thats the way it goes.

I heard there was some shifty looking guy hanging around the switch board last night. Can you confirm Homer?
