The best film i've seen recently would have to be Lacombe Lucien (1974) depicting the collaboration aspect of the German occupation of France through the actions of an ambiguous young man.

No Man's Land is very good.
Contrversial opinion, the first half of Full Metal Jacket is fantastic but the 2nd half really overrated.

Downfall’s probably my favourite war movie. Well...favourite’s not the right word as it’s so heavy but it blew me away more than any other.

Gods and Generals was a prequel to Gettysburg, and is OK, whereas the latter film is a masterpiece.
I'd like to vote for Kelly's Heroes, a member of the uncommon genre of war comedy.
