Sutcliffe, Clifton, Lyons and Dickson have all been outstanding all year.
Agreed. They are the four I have in mind, I've been particularly impressed with the last two you named. It is unlikely all four will be pick up, but a couple should find themselves at AFL clubs next year.

weaver, what you think t.hurley's chances are from s.a???

Slim. Making the AFL as a rover is the toughest task. Very few are drafted and they need to be exceptional. They normally need to be super-quick and goalkickers. Hurley is just average.

You have to be remember that even very good rovers like Chad Fletcher have had to go via the rookie list.

weaver, u think pendlebury has bad skills, explain y? ;)

I think his kicking needs work. There were quite a few half-volleys that landed 10m in front of the leading forward. It is going to be interesting to see who pulls the trigger first on draft day ... he really could go anywhere.

OK, one last time. He is a very good footballer. He attacks the marking contest, he converts well, he is quick off the mark. He was the best forward on display at the Championships. He is however a 184cm full forward and next to no club is going to be shopping for that sort of player. If a guy like him (Williams, Medhurt, Robertson, Little) is taken it is going to be with a late pick or rookie selection at best.
Lost all respect for you Weaver. Do you know how to pick kids at all? He got AA selection, MVP for Metro, won them the game V SA, Dont tell me he wouldnt be on peoples list. (I know for a fact he is). Did you watch the carnivals? Did you see that he played out of FF and up at CHF/HFF etc. Get over your Vic Metro hate...

It depends what you are looking for in a player. Ready made types who can play now or kids who will develop and be good later.

Hurn, Jones are ready now physically.

Ellis is a long way off physically but has buckets of talent.

McKinley as 184 cm and playing FF or CHF in the AFL? I dont think so. Might have the physical tools to beat guys at U18s level but not in the AFL.
Have to agree with Weaver.

Clark is a squib but if he ever got the right attitude he could be a gun. Those are the sort of guys recruiters are looking for. Not 6 foot nothings who are not midfielders.

that y the afl is fuked. they pick up ppl who they think will b good and leave some of the guns behind. but clearly ben is one of the best in the under 18s atm so they should get the best.

Mickinley is a definate 184? Hamill is 184 when u can mark and have pace and attack packs like he did he will be a definate....

I think Andrew Swallow is awesome but do you think that he might not go in the top 5 because he can't kick?

i played in a 16's premiership with brett renouf and jesse white last year and id have to say jesse is more likely to get drafter because he moves around the ground alot better then nouf'

The criticism of his kicking is a bit exagerated. Anyone who gets it 20 times is going to miss a target 3-4 times a match. But he gets it, is quick, and unlike many of the other midfielders kicked goals. Personally I expect midfielders to kick goals at this level.

It is the kind of list that as I said is based on only what I saw on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

I will admit that when observing all these players for the first time it is hard to make educated judgements on every player.

Marc Murphy is very good but on my first impression I dont know what part of his game would come to the fore and make him a star AFL footballer. I would still expect him to be a solid footballer.

Ellis appears to be more of a receiver and having judged him more as a reciever to go higher I would like to see more penetration in his game.

Josh Kennedy made me cringe a couple of times with his lack of commitment to the contest when he was required to push back into the on coming pack.

Ryder would be one that I didn't notice much.

Kennedy/Ryder/Murphy will all be top 10 so maybe watch some more tapes!!

Whats James Bennett's pace like Weaver?

Hard to tell. He is very rarely in space. Always seems within 5 metres of the ball. He tends not to take guys on, instead brings others into play with handball more than be an impact player. I thought he was better last year in truth, but seems a solid unobtrusive type.
