There is no legal requirement for anyone to attempt or pass VCE. It's a minimal standard only in your extremely limited view of the world.
Nobody is forced to attempt VCE, so why should I fund it through my taxes?
Nobody is forced to smoke, so why should I fund medicare for people who smoke?
Nobody is forced to be obese, so why should I fund surgery for the obese?
I'm fine with that if VCE students pay a nominal expense also. $10k seems reasonable.

I was at our local pharmacy yesterday and saw for myself how they had to turn away an elderly gentleman who wanted to buy a ventolin puffer as his entire family needed it. The same that’s afforded to the “pretend” job seeker or immigrant that we/I all of us support. There is a place for everything in proportion but when I pay 49c to the dollar, pay roll tax, GST, PAYG, Super and company tax I struggle to see the legitimate benefit I get. I can barely get any god damn TP or tooth paste because many people who don’t work or contribute can line up at 7/8am whilst I start work so I can support my family and keep others in work.

Either way you look at it, there’s few that give more so that many can do 2c of bugger all. If I wasn’t engaged in client based industries where services are provided on shore I’d have set up operations off-shore like so many others I know, our society is silver spooned and expectations of those growing up are only going to exasperate that mindset.

Your money trickles up, not down.

Of course, Gina Reinhart works terribly hard for her money, having been born into it. Just like many of our super wealthy.
