Myths that annoy you?

The most annoying myth for me is when sides who played in the finals say;

"We may struggle as we are weeks behind in our preparation".

HELLO, it's actually an advantage to be behind in your preparation, it simply means your players will be fresher come the business end of the season.

And look at StKilda and Collingwood at the moment, do they look like they are suffering because they started later then everyone else?

MYTH BUSTED.:p

Myth:

If you can name someone/something that does something just as badly as whoever/whatever you're defending that your point is vindicated.

Fact:

Naming someone/something that is just as rubbish as whoever/whatever you're defending just means they're not the only one.

Honestly, if you're no good at something, having other people equally as bad doesn't suddenly make you good. You're still no good, you just have some company.

Perhaps I worded it poorly - no (or perhaps 1 or 2 in the last 20 years) young ruckman does it - so why is Naitanui's name always mentioned as the ruckman who can't read the game?

I view Naitanui's ability to read the play in a similar way to Cyril Rioli.

With both of them, if the ball is in their immediate area they are extremely good at winning any contest, with their speed, agility, strength acceleration, leap (and NN's height) combo making them incredibly effective.

The issue with Rioli is that he has had to learn how to be a periphery player, running into the right spots to receive the ball (rather than simply winning the contest itself and running away as he did in junior footy) - I see many of the same issues with NN.

That said, he's got the best ruck in the league to learn from in regards to where to run.

Hawthorn supposedly have the wood on Geelong.

I confess, Hawthorn did have a good record against numerous teams when they were using Carlton's Princess Park as a home ground. Thats about it.

For the record
Games played 145 , Geelong 77 , Hawthron 67 , draw 1 .

MYTH BUSTED

Myth: That the fitness freak, Judd, is 'awesomely skilled'.

Truth: He can't kick and handballs into the air and hopes to hit a target. He was ranked the 4th most INEFFICIENTplayer on Carlton's list in 2010. Just so all you Carlton dimwits know, being inefficient means you were UNABLE to hit a teammate by handball or kick.

Problem is Judd has reached the point know where he receives nothing but commentary fellatio for absolutely any onfield deed - whether it's good or not. He can get the ball out of the pack and the clowns calling the match will drool over it even when he kicks the ball straight to an opponent.

This guy was made All-Australian captain don't forget in a side that failed to make the finals (Carlton in 2008). Captain for what? The way he goes about it?

MYTH: Judd is overrated

TRUTH: He's as good as any midfielder to have played the game, and if he didn't play for Carlton, I think most people would accept that

Fact: Judd was much better at West Coast

More like a myth.

He's a completely different player with us. He was definitely more eye catching with you guys, but he's still an elite player at the Blues.

Despite many thinking he didn't deserve a lot of those awards, it's quite clear he's still a ****ing good player. You don't win awards like that for being average.

Myth: Carlton won flags by cheating

Fact: Carlton was never found or sanctioned for cheating the cap in 1995 or 1987. Essendon in 1993 is the only club guilty of cheating the cap in a premiership year.

Inside mids never have good disposal efficiency, they never have time to measure their disposals.

Judd's still got a pretty good kick on him when he isn't boxed in. No elite by any means, but still very serviceable.

2 out of 3 of those are voted for by umpires or people within your club, just sayin'

Myth: Dale Thomas is a squib.

Truth: DT can and does cop hits on a regular basis and has no qualms putting his body on the line.

That Essendon supporters think we will make the finals this year because we have Hird coaching. I've not met one Essendon supporter or seen one poster on these forums who thinks this.
