Jackson will get both gigs after being recommended by Perry. I think Perry was offered both jobs and as early as this week was asked to do it.

Why?? what is his record as a coach? Time to move on, i dont understand why perry and jackson have such power when it comes to rep sides, not a premiership beteween them?? change it up a bit

Spot on, Jackson was the super coach to go to Wynyard and turn things around and no success or was that due to Wynyards culture.

jackson coached smithton in 99 made a grand final but was beaten by south launceston also coached tasmania in the australian country championships also to become runner up but was named all australian coach of the championship his brother grant and wade anthony were the only tasmanians to make the allaussie side so i think his credentials as coach speak for them selves

I heard he was signed sealed at Wynyard? Maybe somerset will struggle more without him Guy?

Alford (ulv) signed with Penguin, could be just what the two blues have missed, akey forward:thumbsu:
baldy might be signed with wynyard but certainly not delivered i heard the wynyard coach is trying to poach other somerset players as well and the somerset committee will crack down and hold all players to contracts as wynyard did to zane murphy until hunty lets up on other players already contracted to somerset. then i heard somerset will clear baldy

Whats all the goss in ntfl hardly any in the advocate . recruiting etc has been quiet and also losses.

called recruiting isnt it? sure not every player at somerset are locals who have grown up at the club. most coaches try to get players from other clubs dont they.

agree canman, somerset whinging again. worry about why they are leavin

G'Day Boys...... My club (Heidelberg - Northern Football League Victoria) is on the way down to take on South Launceston on Saturday..... How do you all rate South Launceston????

They've been pretty solid, kick well, and play an interesting zone defence, which works well on their ground. Lacking a bit in forward presence, although they may have picked up some recruits over the summer.

I agree they'll be in the bottom three this year.

Let the boys go if they want to go to a higher level, the only thing Somerset whinge about and really mean it is the beach that Jono makes them wade in after the games and the beer not being completely cold after the games !

NTFL Ladder Predictions: Smithton, Ulverstone, Wynyard, Latrobe, Penguin, East Devonport

NTFL Round 1
Smithton v Wynyard (Smithton by 22), Ulverstone v Latrobe (Ulverstone by 46), East Devonport v Penguin (Penguin by 30)
Not going all out with the thoughts, but Smithton and Ulverstone should have home ground advantage in their favour against Wynyard and Latrobe, while Penguin will start with a win at Girdlestone against the Swans

Well done to East, Bombers a surprise but Burnie will get better, Wynyard still only just and Penguin want totalk the talk but yet to walk the walk, mixing the leagues up, still cannot fathom a team not from Burnie in this comp

Latrobe might surprise a few teams this year. young ones doing a good job.

Yeah maybe so , young legs on the big ground up there will help, I reckon Dumpy will have to kick a heap for them to figure prominently and they will miss Stevo who was named down back for Burnie but none of their recruits got much of a mention eg Stevo, Banham but Plappy will sort the group out sooner than later, big game for the Dockers this week

This Week Round 2
Latrobe v East Devonport (Friday)
Penguin v Smithton
Wynyard v Ulverstone

The main match of the Round over the easter break looks to be Latrobe and East Devonport at Latrobe, with Easts looking a very fit side especially with the NTFL competition revised to a 6 team coastal format. Latrobe managed to sneak through for a win against their traditional rivals Ulverstone.
However, the Demons will need their forward line to fire up otherwise the Swans could be very pretty at 2-0.

In the other two matches, the visiting sides Smithton and Ulverstone will have the measure of their opponents.
Tips: Easts by 27, Smithton by 47, Ulverstone by 19

Pretty well spot on I reckon, Wynyard continue to be poor, Penguin overrated and the Swans going places finally after working very hard off the field and having a great coach in Scotty Matheson who brings a winning culture from the Dockers and his cricketing days at Burnie Yeoman, one of the finest fielders you would see was our Matto.By the way, in the other comp , the Dockers to bounce back and smash Devonport at the home of football-West Park, go the Somerset Roos !

Killing them from all reports, spoke to Scotty Matho recently and he said one of them has plenty of pace, 2 zip so Swans are doing ok early

Plenty of pace yes. Plenty of skill yes. But he is a REAL OUTSIDE PLAYER. Come winter time players that place their head over the ball suddenly become quicker than those that have supposedly the zip to burn.

The comp is not that strong any more, everyone can afford to be outside and the seasons have changed, wetter during the cricket seasons nowdays, go Swans !
