This Week Round 3
Game of the day will be at Smithton where the Saints tackle Ulverstone in what will be a classic game. Both sides are fully firing up forward at the moment and certainly the Saints start the favourites to win but the Robins got back in business last game.
Giving it to the Saints in a tight one.

Penguin host Latrobe in what is a must win for the Two blues to stay in touch with the top 4. Latrobe will be reeling from their narrow loss last week and I think they can get through here.

And Easts, who are 2-0 are favourites to go 3-0 at home against Wynyard.

Fixture: East Dev v Wynyard, Smithton v Ulverstone, Penguin v Latrobe
Tips: Easts by 53, Smithton by 1, Latrobe by 35

Expect David Law to sacked by the end of the month. He is gone. Penguin have spoken to 2 people already.

He should have been sack at the end of last year. The money they are paying him is a joke. They should have given the job to Jason Ling and pick up at least a couple of good footballer's with the money left over which is lots.

Who would these 2 people be. Law has been finally found out. Penguin deserve better than having been hoodwinked by a garden gnome for the past 3 years. Is it right that he is on 20k plus a year?
I think he brings some sponsorship etc to the Club as well but the heat may be off for a short time after winning this week, East and Saints should be a ripper this week, when do the NTFL galahs announce their squads, expect some surprises here to the average footy follower with the Jacksons at the helm !

What has football Tasmania come to? I played all my juniors all along the north coast and none of the players have changed. The standard of NTFL is about as boring as watching Simon Katich bat. If East Devonport are winning games of football, you ALL need a long hard look in the mirror boys. And yes, totally agree you need a side out of burnie with 20000 people or more there. Surely there are 60 blokes they could pull out of Greens. Get some balls boys and stand up to Scott Wade and show him up for the peanut he is. Loves ruining good things and history proves it.

Katich need to stop walking around the crease and not use his bottom hand so much, is hairy though !

Round 4
Latrobe v Wynyard 1320; Penguin v Ulverstone 1415; Smithton v East Devonport 1415

In what promises to be a close round of matches on ANZAC Day, the main eyes will be on Smithton where the two undefeated sides Smithton and Easts clash. Smithton were very impressive in their big win over Ulverstone while Easts had to come from behind to defeat a gritty Wynyard. Certainly at home I'm leaning towards the Saints especially at home.

Latrobe will be looking to get some form onto the board when they host Wynyard and will certainly be looking to be more consistent then last week's erractic display against Penguin. Certainly won't be easy as the Cats almost pulled off a major scalp in East Devonport last start. However, I'm predicting another close game for the Demons, in their favour.

Ulverstone while they have been disappointing so far have an imposing record on Penguin either at Pirtek Oval or at Ulverstone and even with Penguin winning last week they will most likely find things a lot tougher against the Robins.
Remember two years ago when they defeated the Northern Bombers at Penguin?? The next week they didn't front up and got belted by 83 against Ulverstone and it drew a scathing attack from then Robins coach Max Brown. Certainly it won't be a repeat of that I don't think.

Tips: Latrobe by 2, Ulverstone by 26, Smithton by 8

Next Week Round 5
Wynyard v Penguin; Ulverstone v East Dev; Latrobe v Smithton

Another round of close contests looks in place for the NTFL this weekend with the main game at Wynyard where the home side face Penguin in an 8-point game. The Winner keeps in touch with the 4 while the loser will find things a bit testy. Penguin do have the better form on the board heading into this one and should have no problems accounting for the Cats.

Ulverstone host East Devonport and this is one of the main chances for Easts to break a very big duck. Like many sides that have headed to Ulverstone they have come away with some severe beatings and Easts have been on the end of some big ones. The Robins just got over the Two Blues and Easts were close against Smithton while understrength so there are positives to take away from the Swans game. I still think Ulverstone as they do have the form on the board against the Swans.

The other game at Latrobe should see Smithton go to 5-0 with a good win over Latrobe.

Tips: Penguin by 18, Ulverstone by 2, Smithton by 33

Last Week
Smithton 12.8-80 def East Devonport 12.6-78

Ulverstone 16.11-107 def Penguin 15.10-100

Latrobe 19.15-129 def Wynyard 11.9-75

Just after some info on my mate Chris Adams, who is playing at East Devenport. Any idea how he's travelling. Last time i spoke to him he said he was a chance for the NTFL Rep Team.

Had a very quick read of the squad in yesterdays paper, and I dont think he was there..

Is it his first year?.. if so, i think it very hard to get in the the rep team in your first year, seeing as it is picked so early in the season..

It's his first year, as he's from Vic. Think he's been in the best for East Devenport 4 out of the 5 games, which is why i think he thought he was a chance.

As I said, I only had a quick browse but I dont think that name stood out..

Others may be able to help, but by the look of it I thought it might have been more reputation, or past seasons based.. As I noticed Bazz Marshall from Ulv was in and if I am correct he only played his second game this weekend..

Too right I reckon, the selectors probably wouldnt have been to too many games and they will have to be on their

I reckon he might have to have a solid year before he is reckignized as a rep player. I mean the selectors only really have 4 games to look at before they pick there side.

THE NTFL Squad:

NTFL SQUAD: EAST DEVONPORT: Scott Matheson, Sam Borlini, Emmeaus Wartovo, George McLachlan, Jeremy Walton, Nick Milbourne. SMITHTON: Scott Jackson, Scott Bryan, Jarrod Watling, Tyrone Morrison, Damien Medwin, Chris Smith, Josh Smith, Scott Blizzard. ULVERSTONE: Tim Mee, Luke Marshall, Dwayne Howard, Jeremy Soden, Jarrod Gale. WYNYARD: Daniel Franks, Brennan Reeves, Zac Smith, James Dawson.

Round 6
Penguin v East Devonport, Wynyard v Smithton, Latrobe v Ulverstone

The visiting sides all should be favourites here in round 6, that being East Devonport, Smithton and Ulverstone.
East Devonport who have been jolted by suspensions and so forth will find things a bit easier against the Two Blues at Pirtek Oval. Smithton who are full of beans and confidence will be far too good for Wynyard who just can't win a game at the moment and Ulverstone could find things a bit more challenging at Latrobe with Troy Davies and Luke Marshall out of action, but the Demon's can't seem to find anyone other than Matthew Langmaid to kick a big bag and if that continues they'll struggle for a winning score.

Tips: Easts by 35, Smithton by 65, Ulverstone by 10

Law still in charge at Penguin?

Can i ask who is in charge of the ntfl side. How could Sam Borlini be over looked for Dywane Howard who everyone knows is leaving to go and play for Devonport next week. Borlini should of been picked. Howard i thought was a better bloke than walking out of a contract. Why wasn't he over at Devonport in October when it looked liked the magpies were going to struggle. Pretty poor type. Yep i agree players should be able to play at the highest level. Not at the expense of walking out on his mates mid year

You pick your best 22 regardless. and is Borlini really even that good?

And would Borlini have won the game for the NTFL? By the way the NTFA and NTFL drew 10.14-74 apiece at Aurora today.
NTFL led by 4 goals at three quarter time but the NTFA had a shot on goal in the final seconds which just missed got the draw.
