I only watched the second half. It was a practice game so I don't really care if we won or not. North looked pretty good.

Thought Vickery was pretty poor. I doubt we will play him in round one and personally I doubt he'll be on our list next year.

I wasn't real stoked with Batchelor or Astbury from what I saw. I expected a bit more from Ellis too. Riewoldt looked a bit slack but did a few nice things. Not sure what to make of his game.

Surely Hunt is a lock for Rd 1 and i'm thinking Lloyd will be in the team too.

No injuries and a game of fairly good intensity - that's about all you can ask for in a pre season game.

Not good enough. We made mistakes that a side wanting to go deep into september should not have made. Vickery has to work his arse off to get back into the 22 because now Griff is just clearly out playing him
Today has made me realize that we are a middle of the road team. Which is a good thing, wont expect too much this year. Too many unintelligent footballers in the team. We are a long way off it. I know its only a praccy game but as you said too many basic errors.

I'm not blaming it as the reason for the loss, but the umpiring was bad today. Both ways. They just seemed to pay all the easy ones that weren't really there or didn't influence the contest ie- really soft push in the backs and high contact that was very minimal. It's just annoying as it ruins the contest as a spectacle.

No it was bad only one way. Calls that we weren't getting, they got all day long. Swallow got about 4 "holding" frees from centre bounces, while dusty and cotch were getting rag dolled off the ball and getting nothing. Utter disgrace.

Anyway, not too displeased, thought we showed some good signs and also some things we need to work on (mostly defensive). Big positive for me was seeing Dusty work back into it after a poor start to the game, and also griff especially in the first half.

how many of those goals were umpie gifts
Not as many as from turnovers
If the umpires are calling against us then it means our players are putting themselves in a position where they can
Umps weren't great in the second half but it's not why we lost

Either way the only thing to look at is our own team, not the other, and we made a lot of sloppy errors. Do that in a real game and the scoreline would probably be a lot worse. Other side is fix those errors and we're home comfortably

So despite the pain I feel after any loss - I really don't give a **** today.
Jack looks stellar
Griff's first run for the year was promising
Our elite mids in Cotch, Lids & Dusty had a good hit-out
We were all over them except for lacking some polish
Dimma flicked the side around a bit as one does in a praccy match.

Feeling OK!

Safe to say if Cotchy was on in the second half he wouldve kicked 3 and we win

Apparently North will be top 4 AGAIN (6th actually commentary team) no offence North supporters. Aside from individual aspects of the game you couldn't get much from it. Both sides were running 75% with the exception of a couple.

No injuries is the best thing + a better idea of our round 1 team.

1 thing to note is Miles is one of our most important players. It is amazing the difference he makes to our clearances, we need another player in this category.

Also did anyone notice the change in the backline when Batchelor came on? Ragnar is certainly a lock round 1. I'll post my round 1 team in a moment need some composure...

No injuries - which is a win.

Tackling and decision making was really poor.

Some good passages of run and carry, Houli, Edwards and Grigg involved in most of them.

For me the forward setup for round 1 should be - Griffiths, Roo, Lloyd - no Vickery. Morris on Yarran.

It wouldn't shock me if Vickery is picked round 1 though. Shouldn't be.

What's with people saying the score board flattered us? Absolute joke. We missed some SITTERS, while they were slotting shots over their shoulder from 45.

Griff' opening game and he looked dangerous. 1.4 isn't a great return but he's a presence no doubt and a lock for round 1.
Yeh that's one good thing to look forward to, 4 behinds and a bunch of dropped marks, should fix those up by round 1
