I'd stay clear this week as there are way too many unknows which will change the outcomes of these games. Its far less predictable than last weeks...anyhoo Best bet would be kangas + whatever against dogs. swans straight against GC might be okay. Swans should easily cover but given GC might get charity goals and swans shaky preseasons I'd steer clear.

Why all this love for the Roos v Dogs?
Both times they played last year the Dogs won by about 70 points.

The Dogs are also going in with a pretty strong outfit.

Kangaroos need wins, whereas dogs don't care. Agreed dogs would smash them in a round match. Given what you've said probably even with points might be a bad bet. No one has given anything away unlike last week when coaches gave out info on how they would approach games. Anything could happen GC might even win group...

Whats all this obsession with Dogs don't care. We will play it with a fairly strong setup and we will want to advance from the group stages.

Lol you tried Stuziman :)

Dogs will be missing there best forward, best defender and possibly best midfielder. I will be having a good go at the North Melbourne line and h2h in both of there matches. Dogs will go out in straight sets i think

If I was backing anyone I would be on Kangaroos as well, Dogs are playing without Hall, Murphy, Hudson, Cooney, Hargrave, Lake and a couple of others which is virtually entire spine of team.

Only placed one bet so far for this weekend's matches;

Stkilda vs Essendon, either team under 15.5 @ 2.20 x 2 units.

Stkilda obviously are the better team, but teams after the break have all fielded their strongest team and come home "hard". Essendon could almost steal this group depending on how serious StKilda are.

This is what i'm having a go at for this wend

Ess VS Lions: Ess 13-24pts
Saints VS Lions: Saints 13-24pts
Saints VS Ess: Saints WIN
Syd VS GC: Syd WIN
GC VS GWS: GC WIN
Geel VS Dogs: Geel WIN

77/1

['The Bulldogs will field a youthful side that will be without Brian Lake (hip/shoulder/knee), Adam Cooney (hamstring), Ryan Hargrave (foot) and Robert Murphy (ankle) as well as resting veterans Barry Hall and Ben Hudson.

North Melbourne will also field a young side, including Sudanese-born rookie Majak Daw, who will play his first game in the blue and white after a season in the VFL. He will be joined by draftees Shaun Atley and Kieran Harper.

The Kangaroos go in without Hamish McIntosh, Ryan Bastinac, Nathan Grima and Ed Lower, who are all recovering from off-season surgery. Scott Thompson, Sam Wright, Ben Cunnington, Michael Firrito and Brady Rawlings will also sit out.

The Cats have named a 37-man squad with Matthew Scarlett, Travis Varcoe and Shannon Byrnes the only notable absentees. Draftees Cameron Guthrie, George Horlin-Smith and Jordan Schroder have been included.']

Good summary of those missing.

Edit: I am on the Bulldogs to win the NAB Cup at 21.00
I expect them to account for North Melbourne comfortably.
Definite underdogs (cough) against Geelong, but with a new coach, it may take the Cats some time to gel.
Expect the Dogs to be second to third favourite if they win this group.

Second Edit:
Do the dogs care?
Answer: Not as much as last year

['Giansiracusa said preparation for round one and not a repeat of last year's pre-season series win was the team's primary focus.

"I think as a club we go into any game wanting to win, but as you've seen with other clubs, you do want to play as many players as you can," he said.

Thankyou. No idea why this keeps on being ignored.

Sydney are almost certainties IMO.

The other two groups are much tougher though. I won't be betting on them but if I had to pick the pool winners there I would go with St. Kilda and Geelong. I give very little hope to Brisbane tonight too.

After all the hype surrounding the return of Hird and Bomber Thompson to the Bombers surely they win there first match against The lions!!!

Next game Will be an undermanned saints team vs a young and tired lions side. For me even though the saints aren't fielding near their best side and dont have a great presence in their forward half to boot goals they should still be too strong for the lions.

The third game is a no play for me as it could go either way..

So i will multi Ess 1.30 (First game vs Lions) + Stk 1.25 (2nd game vs lions) + Adelaide united to qualify 1.28 (A league elimnation final) = $2.08 odds.

hopefully i can hit this to get a nice little return to double my money!

Good luck all

Not that interested tonight, thanks to Channel 7 showing it ultra delayed.

But anyway, here's my multi;

Essendon - WIN (over Brisbane)
StKilda - WIN (over Bris)
Essendon - WIN (over Stkilda)

@ 3.25 x 1 unit.:)

I just think Essendon need to show something tonight for their members, while Brisbane is sending a teen squad, and Stkilda are a little undermanned themselves.
