A beautiful, but hot 34deg afternoon in Melb for the boys training run. View attachment 12996

I am so envious right now. I worked at Wesley College for 5 years. Would have been nice to just pop down to watch my team training on the front turf after work. A little closer than my current school ... in Singapore.

Polec, Mayes, Docherty, Bartlett.

It’s a curse. If you are a current Lions player and your bio reads something along the lines of “Running mid or flanker with terrific speed, agility, decision making and booming disposal by foot” then for one reason or another you just don’t develop as fast as you should.

I remember watching polec dominate sanfl finals just prior to being drafted...going into his 3rd year I would have banked back then he would have a similiar impact redden and rich did in the first 2-3 years. Hopefully once he gets his shot this year he makes the most of it.

Mayes won't be far away. He was training with the big boys last week doing shots on goal drills and was looking every bit the a grader. Moving well too. Wouldn't be surprised to see him next week all being well.

Without getting into the politics of it, not having any pre-season games at the Gabba is a massive disadvantage for the membership drive.

Particularly given first game is away

I remember you telling me about his Sanfl finals exploits Balone.
Kinda disappointing that he has yet to get reg games but his injury history is becoming Drummond like.
I really hope he gets his body right and gets an extended run early in the season proper.

As for the whinging about having to travel well we can aleast take a positive out of all of it and say hey we can train on dry tracks whilst in Vic whic is a good thing.

The AFL has announced that Melbourne v St.Kilda, Geelong v North Melbourne and Collingwood v Brisbane will all have no interchange cap during today's matches due to it being quite hot here in Victoria.

All 6 teams will be allowed 6 interchange players also and there will be no substitutes.

Interesting, considering Collingwood have always used their rotations a lot.

Just thought of something... if (read when) we beat the pies tonight maybe the media will be vindicated with the pies and the blues playing next week ... a practice match

I figured out how to use afltv but you have to spend 12USD to do it.. if you want details send me a PM...

or spend 15 AUD dollars to buy it for a month?
