Re: Team's out...

2nd that - very very concerning. Have fired off a text to my contact down at Pieland so will let you know if I hear anything back...sometimes he is a bit slow on the response and sometimes that is intentional for good reason...

Re: Team's out...

Does look a Good Side and some interesting things is that we still have 3 Rookies still playing in Williams,Hartley and Mooney.

Also glad to see Elliot Playing - Be Intresting to see how he goes

Glad to see Paine and Ceglar Playing and both look like Possible to play Early AFL

Re: Team's out...

Ok now we have a few concerns, we very little depth now after losing CAff, Krak & Davis/Brown off season, we are in bad shape heading into the season. This is the week when teams field close to there best 22, we are way off our best 22, with little depth!!

Out:
Maccaffer season
Krakouer- season
Tarrant- hasnt played one game and will be underdone
DIdak- see Tarrant
Johnson- See Tarrant
Goldsack- Two weeks in a row missing, he is certainly injured (good to see the club being up front about injuries!!)
Beams- see Goldsack, hasnt played a game yet & is injured
Wood- See Tarrant
Brown- See Tarrant

That is 9 players out of our best 22 that will not be playing rnd 1 or if they are will be seriously underdone!

Maxwell Brown Tarrant
Obrien Reid Shaw
Thomas Swan Wellingham
Didak Cloke Sidebottom
Beams Dawes Blair
Foll: Jolly Ball Pendels
Inter: Wood Johnson Fasolo Goldsack

Going to be a very bad start to the seaon IMO, and most likely a bad year. Hard to impliment a new game plan with so many senior players underdone!

Re: Team's out...

Not to worry.

I'm certain all of Tarrant, Didak, Beams, Johnson, Goldsack, Wood and Brown will feature in NAB 4 or play some part.

Remember, each player has a certain number of minutes they need ticked off. Just because some haven't featured yet, doesn't mean they need to play the same amount of minutes as others.

Really like our use and selection policy so far.

Will be great to see Elliott this wee too.

Re: Team's out...

There's only 26 named there (can have up to 29 in squad), so I'm guessing we'll be playing a few in the VFL.

Players who I'd like to see on Saturday in the VFL, if they're fit of course;

Witts
Wellingham (needs the run IMO)
Nate Brown (give him a half, he's been training strongly)
Wood (unsure of his recovery rate)
Josh Thomas (trained last week and a half, should play this week)
Gault

Rookies;

Farmer
Stubbs
Smith
Shae Mac
Cribbin

I don't expect all of those to play, but I think we should have a good representation of senior and rookie listed players in the VFL this week, seeing as the season is only 3 weeks away now.

Well Smith and Gault has played the last 2 VFL Games

Would love to see the other 3 Seniors play Espically Josh Thomas as I reckon he can be a Suprse Package this year if he stays Injury Free

Re: Team's out...

I'm worried about Tarrant and Brown, we can't afford to play Keeffe against Hawthorn.

Re: Team's out...

Beams fine. Will likely play a half next week and then a full hit out in the week off to get him right for round 1. Apparently foot problem but not a major one.

Re: Team's out...

so Blair of Elliot get their first games. High expectations on Elliot..

Our Ruck situation isn't looking great if Witts can't get through a season and Wood is injured. Jolly can't do it all himself and Ceglar is too raw.

Hawks will do us round 1.

Re: Team's out...

Can we assume then that the VFL team list is more important than the NAB list? i.e. it seems very important now to get some run into our senior players who have nursed a small niggle here and there.

Re: Team's out...

I think they're just trying a completely different approach after last year.

Winning and playing in all the games in the NAB cup last year I think was the reason we fell away so much at the end of the season. That and having played 2 GFs the year before. St Kilda's results last year indicate that they struggled too.

What we should have done last year was use our early games in the actual season to run our players in, rather than in the NAB cup. Our team and structures are good enough to win against all but the very best sides without being at our peak, or without having our best side in. We didn't need to win as many games as we did last year to get into the GF - so we could have afforded to not go so hard at it at the beginning of the season.

I'd like to see some of the younger players given a go early in the season to give them the chance to step up, while those older players with little niggles, or those who may struggle to maintain form for the whole season could be bought in around round 4-5.
