Krock quoting him as saying he won’t return to full training for 4 more weeks.

When is Rd 1 again. FFS. Seriously it’s getting Harley Bennell like.

I will let the responsible people at the club use their expertise to decide when and where and how much he plays.

But if I don't like what they are going to do, I will make them change their plans.

After all, my opinion is just as good as theirs.
They put blicavs in the middle in all 3 finals.

Your opinion is better.

That sounds like he is still injured and probably wont play for the first half of the year. He was at this point last year in the pre season. So no improvement in a year. Wtf.

This is from December 20 last year and doesn't indicate any issue:

Cockatoo is enjoying one of the strongest pre-seasons of his short career, effectively training without restriction after recent years of injury setbacks.

The 23-year-old has not played an AFL game since Round 3, 2018, but trained through parts of the October-November off-season and is being unleashed in high-intensity training.

I guess that raises the question - has their been a setback or are they holding him back to ease expectations and bring him back to the VFL before he plays AFL versus playing Marsh Cup matches

Until August
I haven't decided yet.

Which reminds me of a story I once heard.
My dad was a POW in Changi, and he was one of the lucky ones who was too badly injured to get sent to the railway.
His lifelong heroes were the 2 surgeons who saved his leg, Dunlop and the other less well known one, a Salvo named Corlett (after whom I was later named, which was lucky, Weary would have been a bit tough at school).
Anyway, he had a fairly black sense of humour, and one day he spent 20-30 minutes examining a badly-wounded bloke on the table, then straightened up and just stood there saying nothing for a good 10 minutes.
It was too much for the bloke's mate, who finally burst out "Well Doc, is he going to make it?!"
"I haven't decided yet"

He played a game last year. What possible reason could there be to hold him back 6 months later unless there had been a setback. If there was no setback he should be playing pre season.

Great story

I was recently reading about the battle of Stalingrad from a German perspective. The shot in the stomach essentially a death sentence because too difficult to address.
Those poor bastards were set up outside to freeze to death

LACHIE YOUNG, Chief football writer, Geelong Advertiser

LUCKLESS Geelong midfielder Nakia Cockatoo says he is focused on getting his body 100 per cent right before returning to full training after suffering a minor hamstring setback in recent weeks...

...
“The body is going OK at the moment, it is just trying to get my hammy strength back up to 100 per cent,” Cockatoo said.

“Hopefully, I’m back fully training soon and playing some footy. I’m making sure I’m doing everything right in the gym and making sure I’m up and running for training sessions – just trying to get the continuity in this year before I play any games.

“I want to make sure everything is all right before I do go 100 per cent. I’ve got support at the club, so I’ve been speaking to people.

“If I’m ever feeling frustrated or a bit angry, I can go and just talk to someone, which is nice.

“But I’m a pretty positive person, so it’s been easy in a way because I don’t really think about what happened, I’m thinking about what’s going to happen next, and that’s hopefully playing some footy.”

Unfortunately it's a setback - Geelong Addy article has more info than the krock one

Some players just don't seem built for AFL - maybe it's just not meant to be for Cockatoo

Clearly theres a setback

Is what it is, but ffs cut him from the list at end of the year

Thought they've learned from the Josh Cowan experience of carrying injured duds
