Surprises me how often soft tissue injuries occur in athletes nowadays. Modern day societies doing something wrong. They stretch these muscles daily, you would think that they would be almost bulletproof.
Stretching is is one of the least effective things to help soft tissue injuries. all about strength of relevant muscles, load management and biomechanics

common sense would be to bring a player who has had multiple soft tissue injuries back through the VFL

the club continues to rush players like cocky back

before the game started i thought about posting at what stage will cocky do his hammy but decided not to because it would be in poor taste

He didn't do anything severe. As he wasn't limping and look more frustrated then in pain. Such an explosive player. Surely some king of compression down that hamstring would help. Or at the least help keep it warm. Some people say that won't do anything but weight lifters can lift more with compression so surely it helps the muscles in some way. Worth a go

He'd know if it was a bad hammy, he's done quite a few before. He definitely felt something hence why he pulled up after kicking the goal.

Hopefully nothing serious but I'd still give him minimum 2 weeks, if he plays this Friday night, don't want to jinx it but chances are high he does a severe hammy.

The interchange cap also plays a big part in players doing soft tissue injuries in much opinion.

Yes it probably helps with congestion a little bit, but mostly what it does is stop players being able to rest their bodies more, and as they keep pushing and pushing themselves they break down.

he took two extra weeks off. he was ready to go against brisbane and they went cautious

I don't know if anyone else here was around to verify this but I watched the open training session up here on the Gold Coast a couple of days before the Brisbane game.

Based on the evidence of that session, he was quite clearly not ready to go. Of all the players out there (including Menz, it must be said), he was the one who did least to fully stretch out and really 'attack' that session.

In particular, when the players were doing straight-line sprints that day, he was the one I noticed that never once fully extended himself.

At the time, I was very relieved he wasn't coming back into the seniors that weekend. And I was looking forward to (hopefully) seeing him in the twos the following week.

As it turned out, he didn't get any footy in till his return on the weekend. And sadly that ended prematurely (as too many of his other games have in recent times).

For me, it's time to get all the medicos in and sort out what is really going on. Because it seems clear that simply resting him up and hoping for the best is not going to work for him this year.

I'm not sure about that Seedsy, but regardless of when he was ready or not he should have been brought back progressively rather than using the route that they decided to take. It's too late now anyway mate.

commen sense is not where i want to get medical advice from. trained professionals would be much better.

He was limping in the rooms after the game

First final is in 6 weeks. I'd play him.
For Stan et al, we'll have to hope our VFL side is not in finals then. But seriously, if he's out 5w, he WILL need VFL time for many reasons.
