Funny, how Cloke is left out of some top 6s
I find mirth in such thinking
No judgment made just amusing that's all

My tip for the 2016 Copeland ...

1. Jack Crisp (3rd in the 2015 Copeland, won desire indicators, freak! still only 21 yo)
2. Taylor Adams (4th in the 2015 Copeland, ready to take the next step)
3. Scott Pendlebury (Still vital player, but will spend 2016 as a leader helping other players to shine)
4. Tom Langdon (equal 6th in 2015 Copeland, 2016 will be his breakout year)
5. Steele Sidebottom (will be like the Eveready bunny - will just keep going along)
6. Adam Treloar (6th is doing remarkably well for a player who is new to the team)

Apologies to:

Marley Williams - would not surprise me if he got top 3 next year
Tim Broomhead - if he stays fit and has a breakout year, he could achieve anything
James Aish - Jack Crisp got 3rd after breaking the shackles of Brisbane - no reason Aish can't do same
Dane Swan - would not surprise me if he changed his game up and did a Neon Leon circa 2011

His last season was awful and before that not much better. Outscored by Elliott and only a handful goals in front of White. His ability in front of goal was feared only by our own supporters.
And without him against Geelong we played pretty good.
So I rather bank on more variety than depending more on Cloke.

6th would be a disappointing outcome for Treloar.

Personally I will fall off my chair in shock if Langdon finishes higher Treloar, who came 2nd in the Giants BnF (who finished above us)

That's not intended as a clip on Treloar in any way.

It doesn't matter how good a player is, there is always a period of "oh that's different to the way we did things at my last place" and "Oh damn, is Marley Williams a left or a right foot player?" and "Clokey's leading patterns are very different to Leon Cameron's"

Travis Varcoe had a fantastic 2015, integrated well and yet finished 10th in our B&F

Luke Ball finished 5th in our 2010 B&F (Jolly 10th) ... And they had the benefit of a longer season to hit their straps.

Yeah, Crispy did remarkably well in his first season, but he's a freak - the rare exception rather than the rule.

Buckley needs to reduce the reliance on Swan - we are going nowhere if he is still top 6 in 2016. put him in a pocket or flank at either end, and build a new midfield.

Pendlebury
Sidebottom
Cloke
Treloar
Reid
Adams
Without Swan how does our best top 6 stack up against some of the other sides in the competition? I'd argue Adams wouldn't be in most sides top 6 probably Reid too.

Treloar is in full training with these guys 5 days a week, it doesn't take a whole season to get used to teammate.

It's maybe an excuse for the first month of footy, after that plus the nab cup matches it means nothing.

Completely agree with the "first month of footy" comment - that's my point. Losing a month of Copeland votes to get aclimatised could easily lose a player a few Copeland placings.

Steele Sidebottom finished 5th in the 2015 Copeland - because he only played 16 games.

If you look at the Copeland voting Pendles is clear 1st.

Then you have Swan, Sidebottom and Adams on the next level....The Copeland rewards players who play every game, so for Adams and Steele to finish top5 whilst missing 4 and 6 games was a great effort.

Crisp and then Marley rd out the top6 based on last year.

If predicting the 2016 Copeland would go

1. Pendles
2. Adams
3. Swan
4. Treloar
5. Steele
6. Reid and Elliot tied

He isn't going to lose a month of Copeland votes, at most he will get a few less than normal

Shrug ...

I just simply see him doing around as well as Luke Ball did in 2010 - 5th - which IMHO is amazingly good.

I think we just have to agree to disagree on this one

Based on 2015 performances and not BF hype.

1. Pendles
2. Crisp
3. Adams
4. Williams
5. Brown
6. Varcoe

Swanny, Langdon, Sidebottom, Elliot, all unlucky.

Blair, Goldsack, Cloke all possible top 6 but performed well below par.

Reid if fit and in form easy top 6.

there is a reason we missed finals last year. the team has some top end talent and some players which are top end playing shit (cloke) but ultimately the top six/ten and the bottom six/ten fall well short of the best teams. We are on the improve though, Adams is a gun player getting better - does anyone remember ball at his prime at st kilda??? thats what im hoping from him. Reid - if fit walks into every team in the league. defence looked more composed when he played there with his strong intercept marking and long kicks.

I agree though, our players need to lift if we are going to push up the ladder. we finished well outside the 8 in 2015 so on paper our players aren't going to look amazing right now, improvement from the younguns with the addition of a top 10 player in treleor & further pressure for spots from aish is what will push us up the ladder.

cannot start the season strong again and then fall away with a week back half season, if we do another 2015 then ill be upset, the talent is there. Its worth noting we made finals for 4 years prior to 2010, the team was building for while- im not expecting a WCE rise, we will grow/build to top four.

You clearly can't count...

Haha

Yeah, I felt after the first three it started to even out and it would be unfair to leave a couple off the list so went to 10.
