I have seen in quite alot of threads that people believe Nathan Djerrkura will be picked up by Essendon with either picks 18 or 20. I would be rapped if this was the case.

I'm sure they he won't go in the first round, but do you think he is rated highly enough for Essendon to pick him up in the second round???

I just don't think Carlton would want that type of player at pick 19, so the bombers will be able to wait until 20.

Don't be to certain of that JP. From what I have seen of him, he loves the contest, but can carry the ball as well. Can't see how someone like that would not fit in at Princes Park.

Fair point. If anything, Essendon would already have a player of his ilk (Nathan Lovett), whereas Carlton would desperately desire someone like Djerrkura.

Anyway, Djerrkurra goes to my old school in Melbourne. So whenever I hear about Footy and Scotch, everyone is always raving about him and this tiny guy called 'Junior' Rioli. :p

HBF, i would die for an on-ball combination of Walker and Djerkurra, with a centreline of Simspon, Stevens and Murphy, Gibbs initially playing off a HBF. Add Skipworth in the PSD if one of the mature bodied defenders (Notting and McPhee) aren't there, and our midfiled is looking much stronger and with some depth which we haven't had in some time.

I would be seriously considering this if i were WH, but i'm not and for some strange reason, i dont think we would rate Djerrkura in our top 20 whereas some other clubs might. Oh well.

Edit: Surely it's about time we took a punt on a kid with some genuine pace and flair, a bit of X-factor. IMO Djerrkura has this, but might have to adapt his game a little for AFL, but i'm sure he is capable of it. Gibbs, Djerrkura and one of Houli, Connors, Boak or Schmidst would be my approach on Nov 25.

I really don't think Djerkurra will go that high. I originally had him going in the 40's, but now I think somewhere in the 30's is far more realistic.

I think we will go for 2 midfielders with picks 1 and 17, Gibbs and O'Brien/Petterd, so I don't think we would take another midfielder at 19. Instead, I think we would go for a ruckman at 19, either Tippett or Renouf. I rate Tippett higher, but I have a feeling he will be taken by the Crows at 14, leaving us Renouf.

If Djerkurra was available at 35, I would cosider him amongst many others. Grigg and Houlihan should also be heavily considered, and I think they would both be preferred to Djerkurra. If he is available at 51, definitely take him, but by then he will be well and truly gone.

In summary, I wouldn't really object to us taking Djerkurra with 19 or 35, I just think that there are plenty of better options. 1 is obviously not an option, and IMO neither is 17. Would love him at 51, but he won't be around by then.

Jeremias, we are just going to have to accept that we have very different views on the juniors, and I'm glad you're not doing our recruiting :p

J, he wil go much higher than that. He was a potential top 10 pick earlier in the year. One quality mids has to slip to 17, I can't see Selwood, Armitage, Connors, Hislop, O'Brien and Houli all gone by the time it comes to #17. I tend to agree with Gilly on this, we need some real flair in the team, and if we can get either Houli or Djurkerra I would be very happy.

Having said that, it would not surprise me if we pulled the trigger on N.Brown at #19 should he still be available.

He is only 174 cm though I think. That should see him slip to around the 3rd round mark. Please correct me if I'm wrong with that height.

I thought 175-176cm, but close enough. Yes, that would be the question mark over him....plus the advantages he had over his opponents in Div 2 with his strong developed body will shrink at AFL level, that is why i said he may have to adapt his game a little. I think he has enough of a combination of speed, agility, flair and natural football ability to be top 25 despite his height.

Fair point Sezzac, they are similar types, i probably just rate Djerrkura a bit higher and more as a pure midfielder, but you are correct, Eddie could step up in that role.
