I thought it was season over when he was running off
The language says to me that season done is still very much on the table… I would not bat an eyelid if they rehab it for the next month, give it a go and it’s not right so he then goes in for surgery. That would fit with past outcomes at the club and I would fully understand that approach! One things for sure the talk of bullets being dodged is extremely premature.

So could his Career be stuffed because of this Shoulder?

Sorry but talk of “fit with past outcomes at the club” when it comes to injury treatment is wrongheaded. His treatment would be in line with standards developed on the back of countless examples worldwide.

“The Club” wouldn’t be doing anything different to any other club. To imply there might be some different or special outcome because it is Collingwood is just silly.

I agree with everything you posted the problem is it’s completely out of context with my post. As someone that’s undergone shoulder surgery resulting from subluxation I have absolute faith that the club have chosen the right path.

To reiterate the non surgery path doesn’t always work (we have numerous instances at Collingwood) and that’s perfectly fine because each case is different so should be treated as such. Wade’s specific comments were “at the moment there’s nothing there that you’d do surgery on right away” and you’d be mad to think that doesn’t potentially change in 4 weeks time. Therefore comments of “bullet dodged” are somewhat premature that’s all my post was about.

What we could do is get more expert advise from someone like The Royal Sampler on whether surgery could still be on the table?

Inexpert opinion- Surgery is definitely not on the table for a first subluxation, that sounds relatively minor. He’d need to do it again before the knives come out.

Inexpert opinions are all we have on here and I don’t believe ours differ all that much except I would suggest we leave the absolutes at the door (hence the minor edits).

FWIW I just wanted to highlight how easy it is for misinterpretation to happen so I hope I didn’t seem snarky with my initial response. The first read through of your post I thought you meant the knives coming out on BigFooty not the surgeon…

Yep, unfortunately it is.

On these subluxations/dislocations it’s normally the part of the shoulder capsule known as the inferior glenohumeral ligament, or IGHL which is torn, and is continuous with the labrum of the shoulder. I would suggest the timeline proposed points us toward a minor to moderate IGHL sprain, and they’ve opted to see how it goes treated conservatively, which obviously means there is a non-zero chance it may not be successful at which time a surgical reconstruction may be necessary.

Based on what I’ve seen though, conservative management makes sense.

If the issue was a bone fragment, or a larger labral tear, he would likely have gone straight in for surgery and a longer timeline would have been floated. Also the “nothing to operate on” comment would obviously no longer make sense.

This is the situation I found myself in. Going back a fair way now, but my recollection of the explanation for the need to operate was that my capsule was torn from 12-6 on a clockface.

It would make sense that Kreuger’s tear is smaller, as a tear of that magnitude would normally necessitate a reconstruction even in a non-elite athlete.

So you're saying he'll be back next week smashing blokes?

That was his Problem at Geelong
He never looked as good with us as he did tonight. Not from my recollections- plenty of our supporters rated him though. Pretty exciting pick up. As long as he doesn't take out his teammates, you have a beauty. Maybe his run with injuries can lessen at Pieland.
Look at Linc McCarthy at Lions. He rarely couuld stay fit at Geelong- now he plays every week.

Brisbane seem to do this well. Somehow got Daniher on the park too, the bastards

I didnt like him tonight, but love that Daniher is back in town. Most talented forward to come into the AFL since Buddy. Although that Max King might be the same level of talent.
They are going to be real hard to beat once a fit Hipwood returns.

Bloody good list.
Wonder if they keep McStay.
I discovered a new favourite non Cat tonight.
I am a bit late on the scene here, but Crisp is an absolute beauty.' Must be the best player in the comp in his position.
