Not to mention the fact he was competing with Hawkins and Cameron for spots up front

Every player should back themselves in, but they should also have some sense and look for better opportunities to extend their career when they present themselves
Yeah I don't blame him at all. You only get one shot at a career and he saw an opening in the pies forward line. It's annoying because we needed a kpd at the time but I can't hold it against him.

We'd have continued trying to turn him into a defender, which he was reasonably good at from memory. He would have been ahead of SDK Rd 1 2022 though he would probably do a knee on the way to the ground and history remains unchanged
I don’t see how he could have been a good defender with his poor hands, and almost zero football nous.

Well we only tried him there for a couple of games and he looked good to me.

Yeah he looked good down back.
The lack of hype we had around SDK was hilarious seeming what should have been around Sam went to Freddy when he played down back.

At the time he was the heir apparent to replace Lachie Henderson long term.

It’s easier to to read the game in defence but you still need sure hands to play in defence. Kreuger lacks that and would be a liability in any defensive set up.

It is also easier to mark in defense as you normally don't have someone chopping your arms or coming in from the side/over the top.

Michael Hurley as an example could not mark for shit as a forward, shifted back and was an AA.

Well Kreuger’s marking game up forward makes Michael Hurley’s look like prime Travis Cloke.

Whilst marking is easier it doesn’t help the fact that Kreuger’s hands are made of cement even when under little pressure and he struggles to grab the ball at its highest point.

Don't Remember Murphy taking tons of Marks.
