Yeah, great post, deserved more of a response. :thumbsu:

If he was 10cm taller, he'd be talked about as top 20. Hopefully he has some growth to come – I still reckon he's worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
Will go earlier. Absolute lightening hands, relentless attack, coaches dream.

Grigg's kicking made me blow.....just sayin

Vic Metro v Vic Country was possibly the worst game I have ever seen. Skill errors galore, the game never flowed and there was no competitiveness from Vic Country. Vic Metro got through undefeated, good on them, but I don't see a whole lot of future AFL stars there. Tyson played very well, so did Green and Patton was just way too big and strong for his opponent. Greene looked very good in traffic and knows how to find the ball, but he's very small in height and body size, will that effect his draft position much? Talia was excellent coming out of defence.

Vic Country were very dissapointing. Heard a lot about Elton, but never saw him out there. Whitfield showed his class and why he'll be in the top few next year. Devon Smith got a bit of it, but didn't have a whole lot of impact. They were just comprehensively outplayed.

The second game was much much better. Despite their win/loss ratios this year in the Championships, SA and WA play a much more AFL type style of football, lots of pace, handballs and run from defence. Coniglio showed how good he will be, O'Meara was pretty good, Yarran was very dangerous around goals, Mitchell got a lot of it and Hutchinson was very very good coming out of defence.

SA were just a little bit too good, I don't know all their names, but Grundy dominated in the ruck, Simpson was very exciting up forward and as a team their skills around the ground were excellent as was their goal kicking.

Vic Metro had a pretty similar game plan against WA, they turned the game into a scrap against less mature bodies. Controlled territory but didn't look like scoring, WA would eventually clear the ball and peg a few goals back and that would rinsed and repeat.

Greene another good game by the look of the stats, backs up his efforts from the previous matches. Surely puts him in contention?

Reckon Greene is going to go earlier.

Forget about his size, he's a ball magnet and a hard worker. He also has poise and creativity.

I think there will be a few clubs that would think they can develop him into a top line AFL player.

To answer the question as to why Brad Crouch didn't play against Vic Metro. It was reported in the Ballarat Courier today that he has a slight fracture to his tibia. The Rebels will miss him, hopefully he's back for the finals, as he is class player.

This Witts character looks like a man mountain.

Northern Territory had two players over 190cm today. Steven Miles was playing as the #1 ruckman at 196cm and 95kg, and then Steve Lawton was 191cm. Witts meanwhile is 207cm and 107kg.

Well you steel has to Dominate and He did just that what I have read:thumbsu:

Tough ask for the NT boys -especially given Witts had already beaten the likes of Longer, Grundy and Cope in 2011.

Sorry but to me there is a difference between being drafted and playing 50 plus games in the AFL.

As I said 60-70 get drafted, that's a given. The question is how many will actually make it. I say not many have the genuine ability to carry on once drafted. Newman, Yeo, Hill and Verrier are just players. Good luck to them if they kick on but based on current form, nothing stands out.

Bad luck for the kid, Never got to see him at his best during the champs.

I must admit I have changed my mind. originally thought this was going to be an average year before the best ever year in 2012. Whilst I still think 2012 may yet be the best ever I think 2011 is shaping up ok.

The top 20 I think are excellent. After that you have at least another 50 who are well worthy but very hard to differentiate. Also think there are a number of SA kids we havent seen so much of yet who would be deserving....bit like a few metro players we didnt see any or enough of who could be in the mix. Add to that a number of 19yo's who will be in the mix from all states and the state league players and you have an interesting draft for mine. What i think woudl be difficult for anyone is picking half the players that will get taken between say 30 and a 100.

Already look fwd to the Phantom to see where some of these guys lands in the minds of our 'expert phantom drafters'.

I think a lot depends on a few players ability to polish up one or two aspects of their games, as well as how well a couple of them translate their game to an AFL level. There's a fair few players who have some things that made me go 'ooh' or give the little tick with the pen, but a lot of them are missing a couple of qualities at the moment, whether that be disposal, size, decisions etc, they're just a pice off becoming good.

And yeah, the 2012 draft looks like sex.

Having watched some of the u/16 champs on the weekend, next year could be the best National Championships ever imo.

2012 is shaping up as a super draft, and looking at the 2013 crop on the weekend, it is extremely strong also, with some huge bodied midfielders (Morabito types), that will be big players next year as underage players.

Luke McDonald and Jack Martin look like superstars in the making to me. McDonald reminds me of a 6"3 version of Luke Hodge.

i still think the 2011 draft looks pretty average, dont get me wrong i think there will be quality players that come out of it, just very few superstars and more your solid types.
