Guessing Marcus Morris would definitely be part of the return package.

You beat Booker/Beal-less Phoenix. Welcome to the .500 or above club!
If he is added it better be increasing what else they are adding because he is a washed flog on a terrible contract.

Did the Sixers hold out for pick 94? Andrew Mackie wants to know.

I'm only guessing based off the fact that he hasn't been sighted for the Clips thus far, and is on an expiring contract.

The only useful actual pieces they could send you would be Powell, Covington or Mann. I'm guessing one of those three plus Morris, plus picks.

No Mann or Powell in the trade, i can not believe he folded that hard.

Yeah a bit brutal, but I think he saw the writing on the wall. Trade market wasn't robust for Harden at this point.

Three expiring contracts though, so you'll have a lot of cap room to play with in the off-season. The picks may only end up being of marginal value, so my guess is you'll try to add a third banana via FA, not by trade.

Good news is you can use Maxey's meagre cap-hold to really maximise your cap room.

Swapping Tucker for Batum was a bit random, but I guess since he has the player option for next season it makes sense. Batum will probably retire after the season.

Sounds like 2 firsts, 2 seconds and a swap although details still murky. That makes it more tolerable.

I assume they are hoping to flip those salaries and picks before the deadline.

Yeah, it might depend on who's available.

You might be able to land a B-tier guy for those picks and some expiring deals, and then still have enough room to throw money at someone in the off-season. I forget which players are the major unrestricted free agents in 2024, but I'm sure there'll be somebody who makes sense.

Rather than going all out for another 'star', you might try for a gun starting-5 like Boston, or the 2021 Bucks where you turn Maxey, cap room and the LA picks into a Middleton/Holiday/Lopez type supporting cast.

So the Nets won the Simmons trade after all ...

(I suspect Silver and the NBA wear threatening to come down hard on The Sixers front office if they didn't make the Harden trade asap, no way did they want a repeat of the Ben Simmons Fiasco)

They didn't though, Ben Simmons has barely played for the year and a half they have had him and still owe Simmons 35 mil this year 37 next year and 40 the following year lmfao

Eh, I dunno about that.

They 'won' the right to pay Ben Simmons for the next two years, Royce O'Neale and a protected 2027 pick.

The latter might end up putting them marginally in front, but at the moment it's a wash. A messy, overpaid prima donna wash.

Westbrook Harden Kawhi George Zubac.

If Westbrook can un-Westbrook himself and just facilitate and dribble penertrate to mess up defensive structures there is a LOT of ways to get buckets.

However it won't work when half the starters are injured come playoffs.

The 2028 unprotected pick the Clips are sending Philly might actually turn out to be a good asset for The Sixers down the track (if it's the Clips own pick)

Accumulating future picks (from a third team too) is actually not a bad strategy from Morey, it may not be the total disaster it may seem from a Sixers fans perspective (although it does seem a bit worrying if you are worried about to win now with JoJo)

They won't hold on to them, they'll trade them. IMO they just won't be able to land a bona-fide star with them, but that's OK.

If Toronto keep treading water, they might be able to trade for Anunoby, for example. Or sign Siakam as a FA.

They may even have the cap room to add someone like Tyus Jones as well. That'll be the plan, it just won't play out for another few months. They can risk waiting a few months with Embiid, but waiting for a 2028 pick isn't feasible at all.
