Well snorkle not sure what you watch when you go to the footy but it may pay for you to dig deep into your pockets and spend the 3 bucks each week and buy a footy record. Not sure as well just how long you have been watching. Not that I am about to defend Redlands here (and this was only a small part of my opinion expressed) but seeing you singled them out here goes-
Justin Myers - 21
Matt Thompson - 20 and debuted aged about 16
Ben Weightman - 21
Brad Rees - 20
Zane Pringle - 20
Manzone - just turned 20
Sam Godfrey 19
Adam Oxley - 18 also debuted when still either 16 or 17
Sexton, Michael, Salter, Boon....the list goes on.
Jamie Hackett - 22 and debuted at age 15

Justin Myers - 21 Havent seen him selected for a while - heard he went home
Matt Thompson - 20 and debuted aged about 16 - Close to that (I think 22 and not really a young player in the sceme of things)
Ben Weightman - 21 - Has played at two seperate clubs from 17 years of age Zillemere and Aspley
Brad Rees - 20 - Played a lot in the two's this year
Zane Pringle - 20 - Another from a senior club last years Magpies side
Manzone - just turned 20 - Started at Aspley then moved to GC-17 then back to Redland
Sam Godfrey 19 - not many senior games this year
Adam Oxley - 18 also debuted when still either 16 or 17 - same as Sam above
Sexton, Michael, Salter, Boon....the list goes on. ah some local boys who are playing regulary on and off - Not many Redland grown juniors in the list of boys above who have got specific roles or key positions each week.

Big question is - How many times have these guys all played together?

I think your and Dumbness's original comments elude to Morningside and Aspley being the sides vieing for the finals this year not using their Juniors in trusted key positions or roles, Morningside's record over the past 10 years has been rather grand and those players who are now near retirement started with the club as kids and worked into their key positions and understand their required roles and Aspley's position in the pecking order of the NEAFL this year considering their recent inclusion into the big time has been better than most considering their average playing age is 22.

Redland and the MT Gravatt will be an interesting game it could be billed as the Old V the Young in some minds but I have always found and history mostly shows you just cant beat experiance.

Big big round!!

Bris Lions Res v Morningside
Broadbeach v GC Suns Res
GWS Giants v NT Thunder
Labrador v Aspley
Southport v Queanbeyan
Redland v Mt Gravatt

Morningside (must win otherwise the boys will visit the Piney a bit early this year)
Suns (broady has had a great year though)
Tigers (stop making excuses about injuries alot of clubs have had them Sharks and Panthers)
sharks (they get a free hit playing an ACTAFL team)
Vultures (good allrounded team)

Bris Lions Res v Morningside- too much at stake for the Panthers, even though the Lions looking fairly strong by 3 goals
Broadbeach v GC Suns Res- expect the Cats to be very competitive but Suns with Dixon and Matera too much scoring power by 5 goals
GWS Giants v NT Thunder- Too many missing troops for Thunder- GWS improving by 10 goals
Labrador v Aspley- Aspley with a couple of key injuries, can be proud of their season but are vulnerable IMO. Labrador getting better and best chance for a win by 2 goals
Southport v Queanbeyan- Sharks to smash an average Canberra side by 80-100 ponts
Redland v Mt Gravatt- fancy Redland at home Mounties due to lose a close one by 2 goals.

Thunder to edge out GWS in tight high scoring affair
Sharks to beat Quenbean or how ever you spell it a tight low scoring match
Hornets over Tigers by 4 goals
Suns to pump Cats by 8 goals+
Panthers to hold off Lions reserves
Vultures to beat Redlands

Morningside (must win otherwise the boys will visit the Piney a bit early this year)
Suns (broady has had a great year though)
Tigers (stop making excuses about injuries alot of clubs have had them Sharks and Panthers)

Vultures (good allrounded team)

Tigers, Sharks and Panthers all had injuries and all outside the 5. NT have had a fair few also, they have impressive depth.

Tips:
GWS in a coin toss
Lions - decent side in
Suns - a potential pasting on the cards
Tigers - if last weeks form is any guide
Sharks - flogging
Vultures - close one

watched Broadbeach and the Suns today. Great standard, very fast. Broadbeach continue to improve and their forward line structure is improving a lot. Eagle was great and shows how potent he is when given space and Zorko absolutely killed them. If Suns coach Shaun Hart does not go back to the Suns hierachy and say, we need to recruit Zorko, then I dont know my footy.
If the cats make the finals, look out, as they are a real smokey.

Top effort by the Cats today. Their ability to be harder at the footy for the whole match told in the end against plenty of Suns players that have played AFL footy this year. Zorko clearly BOG again and would firm in Grogan betting (if it existed). Deserves an opportunity next year in the AFL.

4th and 5th will go right to the final siren in a couple of weeks given today's results. Bottom sides have got players back, and are really not far behind the top sides. Every week I go to a game and see an excellent contest.

If only the AFL was as even! Bit over one sided contests there.

Spot on 2010 Premier. As I said a couple of weeks ago, there are players in this league that are not contracted to play for the Suns or the Lions, yet there are at least 15 guys in this league that are much better footballers then the lions and suns players that have been promoted and played at the top level this season.Im not only talking youth here, but as they call it, mature age rookies. i feel the Suns and Lions recruiting people are looking everywhere else across the country and not looking to hard at what they have in their own backyard.

Cracking contest at Sherwood yest.Tough, hard game of footy.2 points for the draw keeps Panthers alive.Beat Redlands and Broady should get them in2 top 5.

Hope the Suns don't tank rest of year like past Brisbane teams have come finals time. Will be a disgrace if it happens.Matera has never played in backline, which he played yest according to match report.

Looking fwd to watching Thunder and Vultures on Thundervision Sat.

Starting to get really excited about Vultures now. Yesterdays win over Redland was outstanding and this team is looking as though they can go all the way. Albert was sensational again and the efforts of Grose to restrict Pullman to just 2 scoring shots was fantastic. The way the Lions are going, I reckon Albert would be a walk up start in their Senior side!

The efforts by Broady over the last couple of games to knock off NT & Suns, really opens the door for us....

It is great that the footy is so close in the Northern reigon with standard lifted in this the first year of the expanded competition, all we have to do now is get the umpiring to the same standard - why is it that the umpiring standards differ in and across the one division of football.

I whatched 3 whistle blowers yesterday that imo could book their end of season holiday over the upcoming finals period as they were pathetic, in the difference of 100 metres their interpritation of the laws of the game was changed by some 180 degrees - I have never blamed the umpires for lossing a side a game but the standard of their (all umpires) performance must in the least be consistant and there is a big gap in this area in the NEAFL umpiring department for some, as spectators all we ask for is fairness in the umpiries making their decisions (it is not rocket science its their interpritation after consultation of the laws of the game), it must be even more frustrating for the players and the coaches who have to play with the goal posts being shifted each week depending on the standard of umpires they are given - consistancy NEAFL umpiring department please - even if the wrong decison/interpretation on the day is made - in the very least instruct them to be consistant in their rulings.
