I didn't see the incident, but what I hear Baxter should go and buy a lotto ticket.

Top day today at AFL Grassroots Luncheon at casino.

Any way tips for week as follows:

Cats to bounce back as the Suns have a few top ups this week- 3 goals
NT over Lab by 2 goals but Tigers definitely a chance
Southport the best side over Redlands that are going ok by 8 goals
Mt Gravatt over Morningside in the battle of the "Foxtel Cup Specialists" by a couple of goals. Go the home team when it looks pretty even.
Eastlake to win as they have more to play for than Aspley who have been disappointing. The first time a East Conf club (not inc. afl clubs) to beat a NTh conf team. Not too sure though.

Difficult round to tip really.

Is it fair to say that quite a few of the umpires are quite young? Central umpires that look about 17? Have heard that players have been blatantly punched when a young umpire has been looking and pretended not to see. The game needs these young umps coming through. The umpire coaches need to back these kids in and ensure that they understand that they are not to be intimidated. If they get in the habit of letting things go then they will struggle to reach their potential and have the level of respect required to maintain control of the game.

There is a career path for umpires into the AFL. If these young umps are committed and receive good coaching then it will enhance the NEAFL comp. Leadership is required.

Pretty sure Estlake beat Broadbeach last year.Broady had a shot at goal after siren to win game.

watched the Suns belt my Cats today.Apart from the Suns being to fast, the Cats were their own worst enemy with their poor disposal leading to turnovers on numerous occasions, resulting in easy goals to the suns... and at least 7 missed goals from set shots no more then 30 metres out.Their poor disposal and kicking for goal was a problem last year and still is...whilst the Suns disposals were execellent.I feel the Cats are the worst in the comp when it comes to good accurate disposal to a presenting team player. This is a major reason they are not getting the results come the final siren. In addition, they lost big Mitch Brewer in the 2nd quarter to injury, thus were dominated in the ruck by Zac Smith and Josh Fraser.
Just shows how important Brewer is to the Cats as they dont have a quality back up ruckman.Like, Jay Neagle had to go and ruck. He is not a ruck and is wasted in this position. But they have no choice.Anyway thats my hurt off my chest. Go cats against Labrador next week.
Highlight of the day..... A fantastic speccy taken by the Suns Liam Patrick.

Just a bit of trivia. Fevola kicked 10 goals for Yarrawonga on the weekend. Now has 49 goals in 7 games. Also, ex lions spearhead, Darren Bradshaw kicked 10 for Howlong in the Hume league and now has 55 in 8 games.

Cats to miss finals again.Had every chance but very unskilful yest.
Any inquiry to be opened in how Redlands beat Southport.
Internal inquiry opened Sat arvo after Aspleys players caught drinking Fri night in Canberra before another embarrassing loss to Eastlake.
How did Morningside beat Port?
Thunder big chance for back to back.

How do you know this? And theres drinking and drinking. One quiet beer at dinner is different to 10 beers and getting in at 2 am. Which was it? Be fair to say though that Aspley is the big underperformer this year, and it will be interesting to see at seasons end what may happen.

Agree Thunder a big chance. A few games coming up in Darwin where they just don't lose. Will finish top 2.

Cats skill level was woeful yesterday and on that performance I'd agree no finals. AFL reserves teams on AFL venues are a tough gig though. Still time to turn it around, but needs to happen next game.

Morningside beat Port because Port did not respect their opposition.

Take your hat off to Redland, they just keep pulling off good results when most thought they would struggle a bit especially losing Charlesworth etc.

I see Qld u18 came crashing back to earth today. 1 goal only and that wasfrom a free kick apparently. Pity, I was hoping the result last week meant that they were genuinely pretty good this year.

what proof do you have or is this the usual bullshit you put on this forum. put proof forward

2010premier.
yes agree. The Cats have the team to match anyside in the comp, but one of their major problems is their foot disposal/kicking.So many times in a game there are turnovers resulting in goals to the opposition its not funny.I mean it occurs all over the playing field.any 30 to 40 metre pass that should be a kick

no higher then a metre or so is not happening.Instead they are lollipop kicks... ie same distance but in the air at 2 metres in height , giving a opposing player the easy spoil. Not to mention kicking to the wrong side of a presenting player
As a comparsion, the other sides in the comp are well ahead of the Cats in regards to this issue and it is costing us wins.

Internal inquiry occuring.Other proof is no Canberra team should win let alone kick 145 points against a Northern Conference Team.

staminade,
They (Aspley) just got beaten by a better side, a few beers are you kidding it was -5 degrees in Canberra on Friday night, they all should have been drinking straight Rums and bottles of them to boot - speaking of inquires Broadbeach should have one on the bird man, 11 goals one week then nothing the next, so much for their big name star recruits as well this year - Blow Hards get Blown Over again.

i think the 18s will still go alright this year had 2 wins already, played a pretty strong unit who had the luxury of bringing in 8 AIS boys from the team that beat NSW. Great result for Redland

May be wrong, but Broadbeach still seem a bit arrogant to me. Club tried to get rid of it in off season but from their key forward in Jason Eagle right down the spine there seems to be cockiness.

Southport/NT top 2, daylight to the rest. Credit to Labrador though, have been hanging around the top few and pushed Thunder much of the game Sat. Against a strong breeze in the fourth.
