I completely agree the mix is wrong. I think Neale and Lyons are deceptively similar. I’m just just not sure we need anyone new. Add Rayner and Starce next year to Lyons, Zorko, Bailey, Berry, Robertson, Robinson, McCluggage. That’s 9 players and a good blend of pace and size. Perhaps slightly inexperienced, but if we bring in someone senior then Robertson probably doesn’t develop. I’d get games into those 9. They can win a flag.

I think we’re all over playing the Rayner in the middle concept. Yea he will be tried there, but there’s no evidence to suggest he has the tank to play out games there or run defensively. In fact there evidence to the contrary. Until he has shown he can do it, projecting the idea is a fools gold.

If a deal does go down it will be in the last 30 seconds of the Draft period. Hold on.

Which is too late to pick up a Parker. Parker can’t nominate the Lions as a free agent until the Lions know we have salary cap. We can’t do that until we know Neal trade has gone through.

Whether Parker, as an example, is prepared to do that, nobody knows.

I think he stays

...after all of this, can't see how he will fit back in with the boys....they will feel quite peed off with him imo, betrayed. Very similar to the words Mitch didn't say. With the bond our boys have with each other that is now broken with Lachie. It won't mend which in turn could upset the dynamics of the team.

Nah, hope he goes....to WC! I really would not like to see him get his own way........or us screwed over in the trade.

Surely not going to our B + F. Has a cheek if he does turn up. I've gone right off him.

I'm softening a bit. If he requests a trade and we can get 6 or 8 and 27 for him then it could still be a good result for us.

Try to use 27 to trade up a first rounder or get points for next year.

Rayner being our solution to our midfield issues is one of the most oversold notions you'll see. It's as if he had a patracca like year prior to his knee.

There is no way you can like him up as a soloution with zero evidence.

Great footballer, going to be a great player for many years to come - but he is slower than Rich, Shocking tank, isnt a known defender hardly finds the ball and has no genuine experience in there.

It is a 'maybe if everything clicks' type suggestion and one that would take 3 years to show rewards.

That's the pass level imo. One of those first rounders absolutely has to be included though. 27 and next year's first rounder to Dogs for their first this year with some pick swaps gets us a fourth first rounder too. Would be hard for any other clubs to give Dogs a more appealing package.

Do you think we'd use 4 draft picks with tight list spots?

Also if we don't pickup a Neale replacement I wouldn't mind keeping our first rounder for next year in case we can target someone

I think we could find the list spots if we needed to. Or maybe package them up for a trade target this year? It might be overkill but I just think you can't go wrong bringing in that much talent especially when there's the free hit with Ashcroft next year. Places us really well in sustaining our place in the top 4 long term.

I guess we all think the timing is bad but if he had told the boys before the start of finals I rekon we would have been pretty pissed at that too.🤷🏼‍♂️

You mean aside from the fact that we'll probably do another operation thread virtually guaranteeing them the 2022 premiership?

Lachie will be surrounded by ex Bulldogs when he goes back. Robert Murphy is leaving SEN and is going to be Head of Football Operations I think it was, at Freo.......along side Garlick and Boyd.

Don’t often post everything I know within the lions camp (loose lips and all that) but in this case i a bit dirty on it.I can confirm no one in the club knew- majority of the lads where having a drink on Sunday, including Lachie, when the news broke. Others players definitely did not know and fair to say was a tad awkward after that. 😬
The lions lads have been super quiet on end of season stuff this year!!

Heard the tail end of Garlick commenting on the radio, anyone got it ?

FREMANTLE CEO AND BRISBANE BOARD MEMBER COMMENT ON LACHIE NEALE TRADE SCENARIO

Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick says the club would look at a possible deal to bring Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale back to the club “really objectively”.

It emerged on Channel 7 on Sunday night that Neale was considering a return to Perth, with pregnant wife Jules hoping to raise their first child back in Western Australia.

Garlick said the club would always do what’s best for the overall make-up of the list, intent to take the emotional element of Neale’s possible homecoming out of any decision.

“Our job is to look at it really objectively and make sure we’re making the best decision for Fremantle on behalf of our members,” he said on Channel 9.

“While there is that connection, we have to separate ourselves from that to make the right call.”

But we won't have anything tied to them. They'll have an Operation thread on their own board about us, we'll just be focused on winning and knowing our draftees have been chosen for us.

I understand your opinion Macmum but I respectfully disagree. If he stays he will be welcomed back. Look at Papley and dunkley as of late. Footy is a business now and as a club we have taken a stand to make it a family first environment. They will understand what him and his partner are going through as the majority have also been away from their families for an extended period. There is more than footy in life to players now and its becoming more widely accepted. It truly wouldn’t surprise me if he stays. From what I have heard about both of them from a couple of ex players they are lovely people.

Ah, I got all muddled up lol. Forgot it was their first rounder this year. So used to it going the other way.

Please forgive. Clearly I am just a pretty face.
