So to cover their arses and try and justify that they didn't screw up the payments and weren't completely disloyal to their players, they're now trying to pretend that they chased Lynch because... what, they're feeling awkward that they have to now cut players whilst two years ago they were chasing Lynch very hard? Absolutely ridiculous. No, Collingwood were chasing Lynch. Everyone remembers they were. Lynch had dinner with almost every member of the Collingwood brains trust. I doubt they just had him over for company.

I know the club was torched on the Treloar and Stephenson deals, but Pick 65 for Tom Phillips trade looks easily the worst deal among the three from a value POV. Hawks made out like bandits.

WRONG....... Phillips was one of the best deals over this trade period 😁😁😁

Can't believe the Pies PR Dept is sharing that, can't think of a more embarrassing interview in the AFL. Can only believe it's been put up so they can justify sacking him as the fall guy for this disaster.

One of the Pies PR people has recently joined BF as Scratchy05, lots of posts tonight saying the Pies did well !!!! FMD how amateurish, as if Pies supporters are so gullible.

For a bloke who has a loud opinion on absolutely everything AFL, the silence from Ed is deafening.

This vision is as cringe worthy as Brett Kirks pre game.

Let's pretend for a second that even the fact the whole world knows they chased Lynch as it's been confirmed by multiple people, plus a backyard escape......what's the logic of saying you didn't? We had a clear need for a key forward and we didn't chase it, instead going after another midfielder??? That's sackable for a footy department then in their inept decision making.

This is probably the worst PR exercise I have ever seen. Ned Guy is just a puppet for Walsh/McGuire/Buckley.

I can imagine Ned as the captain on the Titanic

"Sir, we hit a iceberg"
"Yeah we planned to hit the iceberg, we just wanted to make sure the ship was sturdy enough to float with a hole in it"

"The Titanic lost a lot of passengers, someone must be held accountable!"

"Yeah we decided to lose some passengers because we wanted to pick up some more in the upcoming voyage back to England. Really feel like we can freshen up the boating experience with some young voyagers who have never sailed before. To be honest the iceberg damage is a bit overblown."

Didn't use it. The callers did.

Oh by the way, they interviewed Geoff Walsh as well.

Walsh said that the same stuff but added that will communicate to the supporters at the right time and in the appropriate channels.

Walsh also said that they never went after Tom Lynch which made me laugh straight away because I know the Lynch family and they definitely did, as did the Hawks but he chose Richmond in the end.
Apparently pies never went after lynch then why was ned guy caught jumping the fence at lynch’s Parents house to escape the media out the front

Ned is a moron who I would have sacked with the Beams deal. I googled an interview 5 mins while he was at the Lions after he was recruited and thought this is a mistake. So clearly he did no due dilligence. He re-signed Treloar with dodgy hanstrings for 6 years clearly overpaying him and the beams fiasco. In 2021 at this stage we are paying them 800k in the salary cap for one of them to get 32 touches against and the other to do finger painting. That is an A grader that we are missing out on.
in fairness to him Pies have been screwed by AFL salary cap decrease so give him so leeway there as 1.2=1.3 reduction is what we basically let out the door. Pies should sue AFL for damages done because of their AFL's financial mismanagement that lead to this. A cash rich organisation had to loan 500 million to stay afloat and instead of saving 250 million for a rainy day pissed up against the wall with the Suns while Taswegians say hello.
Will be interesting what other clubs do as we cant be only ones in this boat. I think watching car crash it maybe better clubs reduce salaries 5-15% across the board which I hope other clubs do. terrible feeling watching your club committ such stupidity.
The other thing that didnt help...... double agent mole Dom Milesi worked at the pies was fully aware of the clubs salary cap issues and played us like a violin. Someone streetwise would have said stay away from a dogs deal. Dom has every right to screw us over but hope Collingwood views as any goodwill as gone and not do them any more favours such as Eddie helping the dogs get a sponsor when they were struggling. With hard times ahead dont expect anymore help from the pies. The club has done a lot of things for the dogs so to be screwed like this rubs salt in the wound.
And to think Grundy starts his new 7 year contract as our no 2 ruckman.
To describe Ned Guys deal is it is like Indecent proposal accept demi pays 1,000,000 to Robert redford to shag woody up the arse with a barb wire condom.

After buckley’s interview, absolutely dead man walking.

Buckley says salary cap was the reason, Guy says the opposite?
One of them is lying, and after Buckley's comments re: the Treloar phone call, possibly both.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/608443/fall-guy-pies-list-boss-quits-following-trade-period-disaster

COLLINGWOOD list boss Ned Guy will step down from his role after this year's Mid-Season Rookie Draft, just months after the club's tumultuous Trade Period.

Guy, who arrived at Collingwood at the end of 2017, was forced to oversee last year's aggressive list overhaul that saw Adam Treloar move to the Western Bulldogs, Jaidyn Stephenson shipped to North Melbourne and Tom Phillips traded to Hawthorn.
