Is it though? I would've thought they'd tell someone like Long "We won't be offering you a new contract. We suggest you check with your manager to see if there's any interest from other clubs" etc. Perhaps his manager has spent the week gauging interest?

Although nowadays with DFA, SSP etc. I think we'll see less and less trading of dead wood unless the player going is likely to have more than one club chasing them.
Yes - because if he was told he was not being offered a new deal, that would have taken place last week. And they would have announced it, like they did with Begg.

For a bunch of others, they would have been told that the club won't be in a position to offer them a contract until after trade week. So feel free to look around. That isn't being delisted.

That sounds more realistic. Hopefully, we have an upgrade on long in the works

Don't like that

wasted the MSD Pick Then

Hope that Means Bytel be De-Listed as well
I think they'll all be gone: Sullivan, Bytel and Long. One might survive if we can move Macrae to a different club, but otherwise how many mid career VFL standard slowish inside mids do we need?

Begg was never going to be picked up by anyone else, so the decision to cut and announce was pretty clear cut.

If it's true Long is being delisted, we probably at least owed him the opportunity to find a new home and subsequently be transferred via trade in October rather than being stuck in limbo until DFA/SSP again.

Maybe - but the announcement that a player is going to be delisted doesn't prevent him being traded - even if it's by way of a peppercorn 5th rounder.

Cutting begg could have been a way to even up our rookie list spots too, before they made any other decisions.

Does it make any difference. If you wanted to add him as trade wouldn't you add him as DFA?

There been no Announcement just a Post by someone on here

I’d keep him for depth as well, but I don’t think the club likes using him as depth, It’s telling they gave Ash Johnson a second chance before him and that we preferred to go into the last round with no key forwards instead of him.
Probably right, but might be one we look to move to the rookie list - as primary list spots could be tight.

It would be good to have at least one tall for back up depth you'd think, given their structural importance

Besides I like watching Freddy play footy, its as if we drafted Darwin Nunez to play AFL for us

If he has been delisted, I can’t imagine there’d be a whole lot of interest for a player who has been delisted twice in a year?

The club mustn’t consider Krueger to be good depth if he wasn’t getting a game when both Mihocek and McStay were out?
He was when Cox was though. So depth as forward/ruck - as they might not be keen on Checkers, WHE or McStay chopping out in the ruck - the others are all better forwards than him by a fair margin, as they can catch.
