Ned had a poor game against Pear, but he was improving in the few weeks before that. Biggest knock for me is his kicking-- distance and accuracy.

Ned played serviceably (which is good for Ned) in the previous 2 games against the 2 bottom teams. However his performance against Port was so poor and incompetent that I don’t think that he should ever play again. If he wasn’t contracted for 2 more yrs, it should be a straight de-list.

He played against an imploding Carlton, and the two worst teams in the comp, and still only averaged 15 touches and 1 goal a game. He wasn't improving.

Just like Murphy. Keays also has the problem of kicking and accuracy.

Career stats for Ned don’t point to any progression in last 2 seasons. Not scoring as a small forward, and not great tackle counts for “pressure forward”. Still more frees against than for.

12 pressure acts last night, in 91 minutes TOG.

For context, Soligo had 30 in less time.

A lot of games and incorrect internal assessments. The club has quite a recent history with that.
They sure do.
All year everyone has been screaming out for better kicks into the F50 but we keep picking players that cant kick but have supposed forward pressure
And see where it has got us this year
Hopefully guys like Cook and Taylor can get more of a look in next year

I was a big fan of his first year in the sanfl and love his tenacity. But he is still doing stupid things that i was willing to be patient with early on. Can't keep pumping games into him, rowie and Murphy. They aren't taking us forward or worrying any opposition defenders.

Club needs to be brave and roll the dice on newchurch for one of those spots next year. He has sone flaws but at least his weapons will trouble his opponents.
Should have happened this year. What a waste not giving him a go.

The character assassination is ridiculous. "He hasn't racked up a 30+ in his first 50 games". FFS. Have you seen the position he plays? His Showdown game was a poor game for him, but he wasn't the only one.

He has contributed positively enough throughout his first 50 games or so to suggest he has a role to play at AFL level. Like many on the Crows list, he isn't consistent yet and he is never going to be a superstar. It's likely he played a fair portion of this season managing injury as well - which he'll have to do and do well in the future, but perhaps hadn't experienced that yet.

If the Crows are to move up the ladder, there is likely just one spot for one of McHenry, Murphy or Rowe in the best 22 and you could make a case for each and each probably has an AFL career ahead of them somewhere. Out of those three, who all try, commit and strive to get the best out of themselves, I'd probably pick McHenry if I could only choose one for Round 1, 2023. He will and should continue to get better and more consistent and I think we'll appreciate him in the future, if all goes to plan, and Rachele is doing Rachele things, Rankine is doing Rankine things, Thilthorpe is doing Thilthorpe things and McHenry is busting his boil to keep the ball down our end so these players have more opportunities.
How is pointing out that he hasn't yet had a 30+ game character assassination? Can you give me another metric that he's performed above average in after 50 games at the highest level?

He's up against Murphy, Laird, Soligo, Rowe, Berry, for the role he plays, and right now he's arguably only ahead of Rowe. Soligo and Berry have had less time than he has but have already proven to be more effective.

Sorry I’m not sold on Cook either.

Cook was a relatively late bloomer to footy, from memory he didn’t come into the SANFL system until U18s. However he clearly has the physical attributes (size, lateral quickness), skills and decision making to be a good AFL footballer. He may not get there but he’s worth being patient with for those reasons.

At the moment we’re not really seeing many AFL traits from Ned, we know he’s super fit but he’s not consistently using that to find the footy on the outside, and although his intensity and pressure is good, it’s nothing that stands out, compared to someone like MRJ for example. Needs a role change and demotion to the 2s next season to see if there’s anything he can provide at AFL level, but I suspect he’ll go down as someone who gave it everything they had but ultimately wasn’t up to AFL level.

Always say if you are going to be below 1.8m you need to have a special quality that other footballers your size don’t have - most of ours below 1.8m don’t have that special or any stand out quality. Eddie Betts, for example, had the ability to score consistently and was evasive.

Being an honest trier is not a special quality and wearing socks with sandals is also a no no!
