Are we seeing the end of the road with this spud? Is Nick's finally given up on him? He's been stuck in the 2's for a while now and having watched a bit of Taylor and Dowling last night I can't see a way for him to return. Hopefully he never returns for the AFL team ever again.
Time to go fishing Ned.
Yes, I think it's finally dawned on our coaches

Murphy next

The coaches are realising that their jobs are on the line so have started actually seeing players for what they are rather than what their preseason running and input during team meetings indicates.

Hence Smith dropped, Ned out, ROB dropped, Laird some time out of midfield etc.

Good.

A bit like senior Rowe spitting the dummy when Jimmy got delisted - these blokes should be grateful they got a go.
No other club saw enough in them to put them on a list and invest time and games into them

Hold on, didn't the club boast @bout trading up to snare Rowe ahead of Bulldog interest?

Gather will be trying to find a new club next season.
He'll end up in the SANFL I'd say but if another AFL club is stupid enough to offer him a contract I'd enjoy him for the 1st time playing against us.
Enjoy him giving away free kicks to us.
Making turnovers to us.
Squandering goal opportunities to benefit us.
Running around doing nothing, pretending to pressure us.
It could be fun to watch.

Reckon he'll get a minimum chips chance at another club. Murphy surely can't get another contract next year after 3 or 4 decent games in a contract year again. There's far too much evidence that decent games are the exception. But then, that was true last year too.

Rowey has actually said that he understands James getting cut as we were getting Rankine.

What he’s critical of is our lack of drafting an elite midfield and wasting picks on guys like McAsey, plus lack of players we’ve traded in, all valid criticisms.

Agreed. But most of Rowes angst started with Jimmy getting the bullet

And not even dominating the SANFL which he usually does when he is dropped.

True. And then did you see the Bulldogs jump on him once he had been exposed at the level?

And note it was likely true with the Bulldogs - they ended up getting Weightman not long after (around that time)

And he witnessed the issues with his development. They tried to turn a small forward goal kicker to a player that pushed up the ground and focused on tackling. He’s raised this a number of times and it’s the complaints some of us have raised that we don’t play the draftees position or develop them properly.

But that's not what you said in the other post. You said he should be grateful that we gave him a chance he'd have otherwise not gotten.

They are working their way through the thoughts on big footy, Murphy surely is next if they are paying attention.
